The Third Eye Perspective:

Thought For Today – “The Reckless Nature of God.”
Hello there my Peeps! By a show of virtual hands, how many of you actually questioned how in the world did I come up with this one? I’m sure most if not all at the very least had your curiosities peaked once you read the subject title for today’s devotional. It actually came to me as I was visiting a different church than I normally go to. There was a guest speaker there who came and spoke about missionaries, and they work they do. He was a very good and informative speaker too. But he made a statement that stuck with me and kept tugging at me the entire service. It is with this train of thought, or line of thinking, that it was placed on my heart this morning to talk about, “The Reckless Nature of God!” And AMEN goes right here! Father God in Heaven, hallowed be Thy Name, Thy Kingdom come, Thy Will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven, give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us of our sins, as we forgive those who trespass against us, lead us not unto temptation, but deliver us from evil, ALL evil, for Thine is the power, and the Glory, forever and ever, AMEN!” If we are to understand the subject, we first need to understand the true meaning of the word “Reckless.” The dictionary definition of that word is as follows – “Having or showing no regard for danger or consequences; heedless; rash: a reckless driver, a reckless attempt.” Now, we need to define the other word in this, “Nature.” – “The phenomena of the physical world collectively, including plants, animals, the landscape, and other features and products of the earth, as opposed to humans or human creations. #2. The basic or inherent features of something, especially when seen as characteristic of it.”
Now, as I sat and listened to this gentleman speaking, my mind started to flood with thoughts and Biblical occurrences that would fall under the subject or description of “Reckless.” If indeed we are talking about something that is showing “no regard for danger or consequence,” where God is involved that would be pretty hard to do right? But in my “Third Eye Perspective” mindset, the first example would be when God commanded Abraham to sacrifice his son Isaac (read Genesis 22: 2-3). Now it is a good thing that this happened in the Old Testament, because I can imagine religious fanatical people going out and doing this in real life today. This would definitely fit under the heading of “Reckless,” in that it could have easily caused or resulted in Abraham and Isaac both rebelling against God for such an elaborate command. But God knew all along that Abraham would indeed do it, but that He had NO intention of actually letting him. The next example I had come to mind, was when the Israelites were freed from Pharaoh’s enslavement in Egypt, and had come to the edge of their promised land that God had deemed was theirs, “IF” they were willing to go and take it from the current occupants. For most of, if not all of my loyal readers, this would seem very “Reckless” when you think about what the 12 spies reports were after going and checking things out. 10 of the 12 spies came back with reports that the Canaanites “were like giants and the Israelites like grasshoppers to them.” (Read Numbers 13: 1-33 verses). To the Israelites, that seemed very “Reckless” when the spies returned with those reports. So much so, that a lot of the Israelites began to believe God had betrayed them, and even talked about returned to Egypt and back into slavery. Their belief was that it was better to be enslaved than to die in the wilderness they were in. For those of you who are not familiar with this part of the story, this is when God allowed the Israelites to wander around in the desert to for 40 years until all of the heads of the tribes who were questioning His promise to them had died off. Pause………I wonder how many of you reading this would have reacted the same way after hearing reports of how giant the Canaanites were? Eventhough you had a God on your side who parted an entire sea just so you could cross to escape your enemies, you lost Faith just that fast? WOW, just WOW, I can see why God became angry and allowed them to wander in the wilderness until the tribe leaders who had this “lack of Faith” mentality, had died off. And AMEN goes right here!
The next instance that comes to mind, would be God asking Noah to build a great Ark. Now this wasn’t any little row boat, were talking about what would be the size of a luxury cruise ship sized build! (read Genesis 6: 13-22). There are some other facts about the Noah story that seem pretty “Reckless” if you really think out it too, like Noah was 500 years old when he started having children. Noah died when he was 950 years old, which is 350 years AFTER the great flood. It took Noah about 100 years to build the Ark to God’s specifications. After telling Noah to build they Ark and why, it took God 120 years for the flood to actually happen! Then, think about God sending to Noah two of each kind animals (Male and Female) to the very spot that Noah was building the Ark right before the Flood came. There could not be any other explanation than God had His hand in that. Think about how those pairs of animals, actually did repopulate the earth after the great flood? Now, I am going to throw you a HARD curveball….the most “Reckless” thing that God has ever done, was send His very own, only begotten Son down to earth in human form to die for all of the sins of mankind knowing upfront that some people would not still believe He was who He is. Nor would they seek this “Salvation” that Jesus preached about as being the means to have eternal life! Question……….how many of you, if put in that same situation, would sacrifice your only child for the sake of the human race, knowing all along upfront, that not everyone would appreciate it? I’m guessing not very many, if any at all would. I know I wouldn’t and that is just the human nature in me. See, some of you all didn’t catch that did you? Think about the subject title, “The Reckless “Nature of God,” then versus the human “Nature” of mankind? God created us to be different than the Angels, in that they were “pre-programmed” to be perfect in their Worship of Him in everyway. But He created us to be different, and to have a choice of whether to worship Him and or to be Saved or not. And that is because, when we choose to worship Him, He knows it is truly because we “want” to, not that we were pre-programmed to. That is the ultimate Praise we can give God, is Worshipping Him because we choose to! When you think about how many humans alive or dead, who don’t believe in God, that is another very good example of God being “Reckless” don’t you think? That is just how far God was willing go to create Himself some perfect Worshippers. Can I leave you with a question to ponder today if I may?
“Are YOU Willing to Worship God in Heaven, as “Recklessly” As He has been in providing an avenue to Salvation for us?” Can I get an AMEN????
“Today, choose to “Ride or Die” for Jesus Christ! Afterall, isn’t that exactly what He did for us on the Cross at Calvary?
