Thought For Today – “An Unsubmitting Culture”
This morning I was listening to a sermon by Pastor Ron Carpenter, who in my humbled opinion, is one of the most realist Preacher’s I’ve heard in a long time. He is one of the few, who still focuses on Preaching and Teaching straight from the Bible. More importantly, he doesn’t appear to fold when his Preaching and Teachings come under attack by people who don’t like it, or cannot recognize his Anointing. I guess for me, the most impressive thing I see in Pastor Carpenter, is his passion for Preaching God’s word exactly how it is supposed to be Preached. This particular sermon was one of I think 13 part series, on the Bible book of Ruth. He went thru the entire book of Ruth, over the course of either months or an entire year for his congregation. Anyways, in this particular one entitled “Under The Influence” part #10, he made a statement that jumped out at me in a very bold way, “Don’t Kill What You’ve Conquered.” Now to some people, that might not seem so special, but to ME that spoke volumes. And although it is not what I wanted to speak on today, they will tie in together with each other at some point in my message. Another statement he made that stuck with me to the point of me feeling it was being placed on my heart to talk about this morning in the form of a “Thought For Today,” was “You Can Very Easily Miss Your Blessings From God, By Not Being Willing To Submit To A Person With The Anointing.” Now THAT my brothers and sisters is a word right there! And we’re all guilty of it is the thing. Today’s culture is so very Unwilling to recognize people of authority, and especially people who have the Anointing on them, because they can’t see past the outer shell of that person. It’s kinda like the parable of The Kingdom of Heaven, being treasure buried in a field, in that a lot of people will never find it, because they can’t see past the dirt covering it! It is the same with recognizing people with the Anointing. God doesn’t take the qualified and make them messengers or give them His anointing, no He qualifies the most imperfect and flawed people usually, while they are trying to get themselves back on the right path and He anoints them. So with this train of thought, or line of thinking, it was placed on my heart this morning to talk about, “An Unsubmitting Culture.” And AMEN goes right here! “Most Gracious and most Holy Heavenly Father, touch my heart right now Lord and sort out all of the many thoughts and ideas I have flooding in my mind right now, to where I can put them to paper how You would have me do, it for my audience to be Blessed by it. In Your Sweet, Darling Son Jesus Christ name, AMEN!”
First let me define the word “Submit” so that you can have a clear understanding of what it means to be “Unsubmitting.” The dictionary definition of the word “Submit” is as follows : To accept or yield to a superior force or to the authority or will of another person. Now if you apply the word “UN” in front of that, you get “A person who is unwilling to accept or yield to a superior force or to the authority or will of another person.” Huge difference isn’t it? Let me ask a question, and I am being totally serious in my asking this question, despite it sounding a little male chauvinistic or like I’m trying to stir something up between couples LOL! “Married ladies, or single ladies who are dating ONE man LOL, by a show of virtual hands, how many of you regularly, totally and completely “submit” to your husbands/boyfriend as the Bible states you should?” Now, FYI the Bible really only speaks about “Husbands and Wives,” (read Ephesians 5: 22-24) but in this new Generation of people not being as marriage minded as they once was, I thought I would add “dating couples” too. Hmmmnnnnnn, wow tough crowd! LOL! Not a single…………wait there goes one hand, and another, oh and there goes few more that went up. Come on ladies, why are you ashamed or embarrassed to admit that? If the Bible speaks of it, there’s nothing wrong with being proud to admit you are a submissive type of woman! Oh wow, that one went up and after the husband looked at her, she pulled it back down…..Oops, guess I’ll just tippy toe back over to the other side! That is going to be a very interesting car ride home I bet? LOL! Now ladies, calm down, calm down, I didn’t forget about you! Okay here goes, Men, by a show of virtual hands, how many of you are honestly exemplifying the role of a husband as described in the Bible, that would make your wife (significant other, girlfriend, or side chick… JOKE! LOL!) WANT to submit to you in that way that is described in the Bible? Just as I figured, EVERY man in my virtual audience hand went up! LOL! I guess they forgot they are still considered in Church despite it being “a virtual one” LOL! Shaking my head…….LOL! The very fact that today’s society is not known for being very submissive, and there are a lot of reasons why, but the two more common ones I would guess, is #1. There isn’t as much Biblical teaching going on like there was back 20-40 years ago. But there sure is a lot of Sexual immorality, twerking, drug use, violence, disrespect, etc…being fed to our brains everyday with social media. #2. An extension of #1, in that because a lot of today’s youth (not all, but a lot of ) are not being raised up in traditional homes. You have a lot of single parent homes, where the one parent has to work long hours, and even two jobs, just to make ends meet, leaving their kids to fend for themselves. Or you have a lot of parents both single and both parents living under the same roof, who are in public housing and on Government assistance aka welfare, and in very bad environments, that are not ideal for raising children, where respect, morals, character, a good family name heritage, is not being taught or is not being reinforced by what the old saying “people see people do” way. (Yes I know the correct term is Monkey as opposed to people) In other words, the generations of children coming up now, don’t have positive role models in their lives consistently or frequently enough, to set that type of standard of the things I listed above.
Now, here’s where the repercussions of being “Unsubmitting” comes in. If a whole generation of youth grows up not being taught important things to help them survive in life, like respect, common courtesy, morals, character, intelligence, and especially about the importance of a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and Salvation in their lives, they will not know how to recognize when a person with God’s Holy Anointing, is trying to speak to them. Why is that important you ask? because if you know your Bible pretty good, you know that God rarely ever speaks to someone specifically. He uses people and even Angels to speak on His behalf. Part of this is because God is a creator, and anything He speaks, it comes into existence, or comes to pass. Think about when He created the Heavens and the Earth. It doesn’t say He took this and then took that and put them together and made that, and so on and so forth. No, it says “And God said “LET THERE BE,” and it was. It was The Arch Angel Gabriel is who God used at times during Biblical days to deliver messages His prophets. Today, just like I stated above, a lot of people miss out on messages and especially Blessings, that came directly from God and meant for them, because they didn’t recognize the messenger as being anointed. There is definitely a downside to having the Anointing, such as you will ALWAYS have a HUGE target on your back. Mainly because people will be jealous of that fact that you indeed do have God’s Anointing and no other reason. I have been told many times that I have it, but I don’t know that I do. There are times when I see things, or know things that I shouldn’t know if you knew me and how I am or always have been. Most of my close friends and family know me to be a jokester, and a happy-go-lucky kinda guy. I like to make people laugh, and feel good about themselves. I try to encourage just about anyone who I see that might be having a bad day. Some people might take that as not having a serious side, but that is so not the case. These daily devotionals are living proof of that serious side God blessed me with. Ironically, I didn’t realize I had it until about 19 years ago when I first started sharing devotionals. I mean yeah, I could be serious before then. But the type or level of seriousness required to write these devotionals, is completely different. Now, in connecting my message to the statement I made in the beginning of this devotional, “Don’t Kill What You Have Already Conquered,” it is not meant literally. If a person has already submitted to you, there is absolutely no need to keep making them submit, nor to brag or boast to other people about making them submit. There are many different types of submission, but the one being discussed here is unforced submission. In other words, when you recognize a person who is trying to help you, or talk to you about God, that person very well could be delivering that message directly From God Himself to you. Never discredit the messenger because you might know a little (or a lot) or dirt on them from their past. If God can forgive their sins, why are you still trying to remind them, or use those forgiven sins against them? Learn to submit to the Anointing, you just never know how many Blessing you might be missing out on if you don’t. Can I leave you with a question to ponder today if I may?
“If you were to be totally honest with yourself right now, are you part of the Unsubmitting Type Culture Generation? Can I get an AMEN?
“Today, choose to “Ride or Die” with Jesus Christ! Afterall, isn’t that exactly what He did on the Cross at Calvary?”
