Thought For Today – “He’s An On Time God!”
Question for my readers, by a show of virtual hands, Men how many of you have a wife, or (notice I said OR and not both lol) girlfriend, daughter’s or ever your mother’s are always ready to go when they say they will be? Come on now, you don’t have to be scared to put your hands up? Yeah, I know, they are within striking distance, but you are the man of the house! The KANG of the castle, the “what I say goes boss in char….oh okay she’s looking at you right now, Nevermind my bad, but surely you can speak up man, don’t scared! Dude, don’t put your hand up, I am just picking for kicks and giggles LOL! Don’t go getting slapped upside your head on my account LOL! Okay women folk, how many of you are actually on time more than you are late? Come on now, you don’t have to be shy LOL! Get those hands up if you know you are a repeat offender LOL! Now I’m not just picking on you ladies, I’m just simply asking an honest question for my devotional today, that’s all! I see some of you all out there need to be asking for forgiveness, because I know a lot of you well enough to know that you ain’t EVA on time for anything LOL! Okay, okay, okay, my bad geez! You women folk showl do get a little uptight easily LOL! Menfolk, you know I have be an “equal opportunity” offender right? I mean, with all the government folks that might be reading this message today, I would hate to get a call from, or even worse a visit from the head of the “W.A.O.M.O.”(Women Against Offensive Men Organization)! What, you didn’t know there was such an organization? Really? Go and offend a large group of women, and you’ll see just how quickly that will unite, mobilize and show up on your front door step LOL! Of course I am only funning around about this, I wouldn’t want to get any email replies, phone calls, texts, or FB inbox messages LOL! Believe me, I have before! Everytime I mention in one of my devotionals where I am discussing Eve being tricked by the serpent (aka Satan) into eating of the fruit of the forbidden tree, I get jumped “metaphorically” speaking of course LOL! It seems, that the TRUTH of that part of our Christian history tends to offend some women folk. Why I dunno, but it does! LOL! Okay, let me stop. I am shoving my foot deeper and deeper in my mouth right now! It is with this train of thought about the on time thing, that it was placed on my heart today to talk about, “He’s An On Time God!” And AMEN goes right here!
I don’t know why I started this one off this morning trying to be “messy” as my good friend and co-worker always jokes about when we are stirring the pot with each other LOL! But I thought I would give you a little bit of a giggle this morning before getting serious. At least I HOPE the women reading this found it funny? Whew, but the air in this room sure did get awful thin and cold all of a sudden. I hope Mother Nature isn’t letting me know she DIDN’T find it funny at all? Well it wouldn’t matter, I ain’t skeered of her anyways, she’s been in a bad mood here lately anyways! It must be that time of…..so anyway, in getting back to my devotional before I receive some bodily harm, over here LOL! Why is it that we expect everyone and everything else to be on time when for the most part none of us are? We want our alarm clocks to go off on time, yet we hit the snooze button a minimum of a couple of times when it does? We want our coffeemaker to have our coffee brewed up by the time we finish our shower and are ready to drink our first cup to wake up to start our work day? Those of us who have school aged children, want our children to get up and start to get ready the FIRST time we ask them, not the tenth? We want our vehicles to start on the first try so that we can make it work on time? We want our paychecks to be handed to us on time, so that we can pay our bills on time right? After our work week is done, and we come to the weekend, we want our significant other, or our friends, to be on time to the recreation plans we’ve made to be on time? And then Sunday morning, the Church Pastor wants US to be on time, while at the same time, we want HIM to get up there speak the Word the Lawd has put on his heart to share with us and then sit down so we can get home and either watch our favorite sports, hit a lake to fish, or being off to one of the family members for Sunday dinner right? But if we are being honest here, how often does all of the above happen “on time” everytime? Exactly, maybe some of the time, or most of the time, maybe even usually, but not “EVERY” single time does it? Life happens doesn’t it? Those things that we cannot control that comes in and wreaks havoc on our little perfect intentions….. Now imagine, just imagine for a minute if indeed God was like us? What if He was late periodically, or maybe even frequently when it came to answering our Prayers? That would really be a very bad deal wouldn’t it? However, that is just NOT the case is it? The Bible says, “He might not come when YOU want him to, but He is ALWAYS ON TIME.” Let me give you a few examples of this from the Biblical days….buckle up peeps, I’m about to take you on a wild ride back into history!
I would have to believe, that the first example of God being “An On Time God,” would be that it only took him SIX days to create the whole entire universe! The planets, the animals, the humans, and the Angels (read the book of Genesis). Not only that, but He created everything to work exactly how is should and didn’t make any mistakes the first time! Next, I would have to list the fall of Lucifer from Heaven. God addressed Lucifer’s rebellion against Him by kicking Lucifer our of Heaven along with the 1/3 angels who rebelled against Him. Imagine what might, or could have happened if God had waited any longer to do that? How many more angels do you think Lucifer might have turned against God and joined in with his rebellion? Not that God still could not have crushed that rebellion, afterall He created them. And like my dear mother would say, “Boy, I brought you in this world and will darn (she used a more ummmm interesting word here lol) sure take you back out of it!” Well God could have done the same thing had He chose to do that. The next example, I would say was when Adam and Eve committed the first sin in the Garden of Eden when they (notice I said “THEY” lol) ate of the forbidden fruit, that God came down into the garden Himself to address this issue with them. He could have easily sent one of this remaining angels in authority (Gabriel or Michael), but He wanted to personally deal with this situation. God addressed the sin with Adam and Eve face to face, and then rectified the situation right then and there on the spot, before they were able to commit anymore sins. I could list next the parting of the Red Sea when the Israelites where escaping Egypt and Pharaoh’s army. God was right on time when He not only parted it, but when He closed it back up just before the soldiers could catch up to the Israelites. I could also list the incident when Jesus Christ calmed the storms for the Disciples when they were on the boat headed to Galilee. The Bible speaks of how the waves were crashing up against the boat, tossing it and turning it, and rocking it in all different directions. The Disciples were so scared that they feared they would die as a result of that storm. However, when the woke Jesus up from His sleep, they actually had the audacity to ask Him, “Master, do you not care about us? We are fearful that we might perish, and here You lie sleeping as if you are not concerned about our welfare?” First of all, if you are on a boat with of all people, JESUS CHRIST and He is sleeping during a violent storm, that should tell you that He isn’t too worried about that storm! Can I get an AMEN on that point right there? Well as the story would go, Jesus woke up and I’m going to do a little western paraphrasing here, said “Now storm, I reckon you need to just settle down a bit, you doing all this sparkin and spittin, and blowin, and kickin up awl thst ruckus and noise while i’m trying to sleep, that you got my friends all a feared of ya, now settle down! I said settle down, Peace Be Still!” and so the wind and the sea obeyed Him. Now to bring this to a close, if you have been Praying and having Faith that God is going to answer your Prayers, DON’T lose hope! The Bible says, “God won’t let any good thing that is meant for you to pass you by.” If it is meant for you, it will find you in other words! As I stated earlier, “God may not come when you want Him to, but He is ALWAYS, come on repeat after me, ALWAYS RIGHT ON TIME! Can I leave you with a question to ponder today if I may?
“Do you believe without a shadow of a doubt, that God is an “On Time God?” I can tell ya, YES HE IS! Can I get another AMEN???
“Today, choose to “Ride or Die” with Jesus Christ! Afterall, isn’t that exactly what He did for us on the Cross and Calvary?”
