The Third Eye Perspective:

Thought For Today – “God Will Take You LEFT, To Get You RIGHT!”
By a show of virtual hands, how many of you in my virtual audience are LEFT handed? Come on now, don’t be shy, get those hands up? I’m proud to say that I am a LEFT handed person myself! I know that for a lot of people, being LEFT handed is like a curse or a bad thing isn’t it? But why? It is a scientific FACT that LEFT handed people are more creative than RIGH handed people! I played basketball all of my adolescent and adult life, and let me tell you that being LEFT handed is a HUGE advantage! Why you ask? well I will prove it to you! You see, by the majority of basketball players being RIGHT handed, it is a natural human reaction that when a defensive player goes up to block a shot, they by instinct will focus on the RIGHT hand. My uncle Danny “DT” Thomas, who taught me (and tons of others) everything I know about the game of Basketball, to use my being LEFT handed as an advantage. He said, “Take the ball up strong with both hands when you are close to the basket, and right at the last second before releasing it, switch it over to your LEFT hand, and you’ll get tons of 3pt play opportunities! Man was he right! It is with this train of thought, or line of thinking, that it was placed on my heart this morning to talk about, “God Will Take You LEFT, To Get You RIGHT!” And AMEN goes right here! That little trick or tad bit of pertinent information my uncle Danny taught me, helped me to put up some pretty good numbers in my career as a Basketball player. Including 28pts against our cross town rivals, THE UCA BEARS featuring none other than Mr. Scottie “Former teammate of Michael “Air” Jordan, Chicago Bulls Star, and 6x NBA Championships Rings, Mr. top 50 players of all-time in NBA, Pippen, my Freshman year. Another example of being LEFT handed as it pertains to me, is the fact that I actually Calf and Team Rope RIGHT handed! Now if you know anything about Roping and Rodeo, you know that most Cowboys will just stick with whichever is their dominant hand, when they rope. However, I forced myself to learn how to rope RIGHT handed, because it is just easier all the way around. #1. You can’t be a Team Roping Header and be LEFT handed because the steer is always to the RIGHT of you. You would have to be a Heeler. #2. In Calf Roping, you would have to find a LEFT handed trained Calf Roping horse, which are not very common. When it came to softball, I used my LEFT hand to throw and even to pitch, which is one of the multiple positions I played. So you see, it’s really not so bad being a “Southpaw” as we are known LOL!
Now as usual, I am about to throw you one of my famous curveballs. You see, the type of “LEFT” I am going to speak on today, has to do with the direction our life’s footsteps are taking us. And then going back to the premise of “LEFT” being a bad or difficult thing, this should all fit right in together, no pun intended LOL. Now it is very imperative for me to really dive deep into this whole mentality of God influencing the footsteps of our direction in life we travel, in order to reach His desired destination for us. The best way for me to do this, is to provide you sometype of an example that relate to this mentality. Before I share the example, let me state that the whole purpose of God either influencing it Himself, or allowing this “LEFT” directional path/road/season to happen, is to develop something in us that we are lacking. The best example that comes to mind, is Joseph who was a prophet in the book of Genesis. Joseph was the son of Jacob and Rachel of Canaan, who also had 11 brothers that were jealous of him. Why? Because Joseph was his father’s favorite son, and was known for tattling on his other brothers. He had also been given dreams of God’s plan for his life, so he kinda had a little streak of overconfidence in him, aka felt he was a little “special” if you get my drift? To make a long story short, Joseph made the mistake of crossing his brothers. Now pay attention, because this is where Joseph’s life/story starts to take a big LEFT turn! This caused them to plot against him, which eventually resulted in them throwing him into a deep well and leaving him there. A caravan came by and after pulling him from the well, they sold him into slavery to Potiphar. Potiphar made Joseph the head of his household. As the story goes on, Joseph was falsely accused of attempted rape by Potiphar’s wife, after he refused her attempts to seduce him. He was then thrown into prison for a number of years (read Genesis 39: 7-20). While in prison, Joseph found favor with the prison guards, and was soon placed in charge of the other prisoners. Then, he interpreted the dreams of two prisoners, one a cupbearer and the other a baker for the King of Egypt, and both were very politically connected. When word got out that Joseph could correctly interpret dreams, Pharaoh sent for him urgently to come and interpret a dream he had had about seven lean cows, which devoured seven fat cows, and of seven withered ears of grain which devoured seven fat ears. Joseph correctly interpreted Pharaoh’s dreams to mean that there would seven years of abundance, followed by seven years of famine. And that by Pharaoh having had the dreams twice, it meant that the matter is determined by God, and God will quickly bring it about.
After Joseph was able to effectively interpret Pharaoh’s dreams, he was elevated to the highest level of power, regent co-equal with Pharaoh, titular leader of Egypt, one of the greatest kingdoms in the ancient world. That has to be one of the most famous “LEFT’s” in someone’s life that ended up at the end to be a “RIGHT.” The moral of this story about Joseph, is that God took him through a long season of “LEFT,” to work on his character and his conceitedness to make him more humble, before letting him get on the road/path of the “RIGHT.” Joseph went from being highly favored by his father over his other siblings, to what most if not all of us would consider to be the “lowest of lows” when he was thrown into the deep pit/well by of all people, his very own brothers. If that wasn’t enough, then to be sold into slavery, and it seems like it just keeps getting worse when he was falsely accused of attempted rape, when all he did was resist a married woman’s seductive advances, landing him in prison. Now right here, most of us reading this would have thought our lives were over, that we were going to end our lives in an inescapable “LEFT” season. However, Joseph never gave up, even despite one horrible circumstance after another, he continued to do the right thing and have faith that his story was not going to end in a “LEFT” season. This is a very good example of why we need to keep fighting the good fight in this day and age, nomatter how bad things get. God may take us all around the realm of the “LEFT” universe, before allowing us to experience our season of “RIGHT.” As I look back over my life, I feel I can relate to Joseph in a lot of ways, I have had some very long and painful seasons of “LEFT,” and I thought they would eventually take me out. The one thing that keeps me faithful that “LEFT” IS NOT my final destination, is the promises of God that He has better for us if we just kill all of our “Me, Me, Me, ME” mentalities, and worship Him, He will be right beside us in those seasons of “LEFT” protecting us from being taken out. We might get tossed, and turned, and battered like a ship against a raging seas’ waves, but as long as God is our Captain, we WILL reach our predetermined destination! Can I leave you with a question to ponder today if I may?
“Who Is YOUR Captain When You Are In A Season of “LEFT” While Searching For Your Season of “RIGHT?” Can I Get An AMEN????
“Today, choose to “Ride or Die” with Jesus Christ! Afterall, isn’t that exactly what He did for us on the Cross?”
