Thought For Today – “The Devil Can’t Have What Belongs To God…”
Good Morning Saints! How are you doing this morning, good I hope? Are you having a good work week so far, I sure hope so? You know, sometimes in life we have to take a step back and re-evaluate our approach to situations. What I mean is, “if it’s not working the way you would like, then change up your approach to it and see if that changes anything.” One of the human race’s biggest downfalls, is that how we view a certain situation strongly influences how we pursue it, can I get an AMEN? In other words, if we view a situation as being too hard, or too difficult to accomplish, more times than not we will avoid pursuing it won’t we? Or, If we feel it is too easy, we will jump in and pursue it right away, won’t we? Why is the human race so hell bent on everything being easy? Now I’m about to throw a 110 mph curve ball at you…….did it ever occur to you that Satan dangles things that are really bad for us right in our faces, because with him knowing our genetic makeup, he knows we will jump at it? Come on somebody, I know I’m not the only one who has figured this age old tactic of Satan out? Oh okay, I guess I’ll walk over to the other side of the room, I can’t seem to get any AMEN’s over on that side I just left from. It is with this train of thought, or line of thinking, that it was placed on my heart this morning to talk about, “The Devil Can’t Have What Belongs To God…” And AMEN goes right here!
Now if you would, please turn in your Holy Bibles to (Matthew 4: 1-11 verses). Some of you might recognize this group of scriptures and some may not. For the sake of time and space in this message, I will try my best to narrate to the best of my ability what took place in this story. Dear Lord, I humble myself before Your Throne of Mercy and ask that You Bless me to break this Word down to my audience in a way that it not only is understanding to them, but that it also Blesses them abundantly! In Your Sweet Darling Son Jesus’ name, let all the Christian folks say AMEN? In this story, Jesus had been recently baptized by John the Baptist, and the Spirit led Jesus to the Judaean Desert, aka wilderness to be tempted by the devil. After fasting for forty days and forty nights, He was hungry. Now the Greek word for “tempted,” can also mean “tested.” Satan shows up and tries his best to tempt Jesus. Satan knew Jesus was hungry, so he said to him “IF thou be the Son of God, command that these stones turn to bread?” Jesus answered, “It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.” The devil then took Jesus up to the Holy City on a pinnacle of the temple, and said to him, “IF (notice I keep capitalizing the “IF” in these sentences. Satan knew exactly who Jesus was!) thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down; for it is written, He shall give his angle charge concerning thee; and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.” In other words, “IF you really are the Son of God and you jump, the Word says that God’s Angels will swoop down and save you?” Jesus responded to Satan with, “It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.” Then Satan too Jesus up to a very high mountain, and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory to them. Now watch this, then Satan told Jesus “All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me?” Jesus replied, “Get the hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and Him only shalt thou serve.” Which is where the phrase “Get thee behind me Satan” comes from.
Now, after Satan realized that he could tempt Jesus to bow down and worship him, the Bible says that the devil left Jesus alone. The moral of this story, is that despite Satan #1. Challenged Jesus Christ’s identity, “IF thou be the Son of God,” do this, or do that. Knowing all along that Jesus was the Son of God. #2. That Satan hates God so much, that he went after what he thought was his prized possession, His Son Jesus Christ and failed miserably. You see, Satan felt if he could get Jesus to bow down and serve him, he could administer a HUGE blow to God, like when the 1/3 angels rebelled with him in Heaven. #3. Satan tried to trick Jesus into worshipping him, but the fact that Jesus belonged to God, that relationship would not allow Jesus to weaken enough to allow it to happen! #4. This is also the reason what Satan attacks humans so hard, because he knows we are God’s other most prized possession. The very reason God created humans, was to have something that would give Him Worship and Praise willfully. And He gave us the choice as to if we are to Worship and Praise Him. When God created the Angels in Heaven to be His instruments or agents to carry out His work, they were created perfect in His likeness, and their very first words uttered out of their mouths were praises, and worship words. Yet even with that being the case, one third of them still rebelled with Lucifer (aka Satan, aka the Devil). God felt that Worshipping and Praising Him should be a choice, so humans were created and given the right to choose. There is no bigger Praise God can receive, than for us humans to Praise and Worship Him freely of our own accord. And when we openly and sincerely proclaim our Love for, and dedication to Him, there is NOTHING the Devil can do to take that away from us. I can’t speak for you, but as for me “Carlos C. Brown,” I belong to the Lord our God in Heaven! No if’s, and’s, or but’s about it! And I am NOT ashamed to tell anyone! And AMEN goes right here! I urge you to proclaim your love for, dedication to, and undying loyalty to God also. Can I leave you with a question to ponder today if I may?
“Who Do You Belong To, God or Satan?” Can I get an AMEN?
“Today, choose to “Ride or Die” with Jesus Christ! Afterall, isn’t that what He did for us on the Cross?”
