I know the second loop was useful in the past. You used to see guys use it to stay alive in the average at big rodeos where you had two long goes and maybe a short go. These days the times are so tight from first hole to last that the second loops seems useless.

: 1). Yes you can carry 2 loops. The NFR is an
: example. Before the calves got real small
: at Cheyenne, some of the top 5 or so guys
: would carry 2 loops. Use to be sometimes a
: 6 to 8 second difference between the top 2
: guys and the bottom guys in the short round.
: But if your at a one header and have to be
: 9 or quicker to place, there is no reason to
: carry it.
:
: 2.) Somebody a long time ago, like when the
: guy created the barrier that is still being
: used today, decided you had to tie on a
: second loop in order to use one. I would
: just guess nobody has challenged the ruling.
:
: 3.) And that is something that needs to be
: practiced at home as some horses don't take
: it to well the first time it is used.

: 1)Are there any rodeos left that allow two
: loops? (Doesn't seem like using a second
: loop is going to get a person very far these
: days.)
: 2)If so, why do you have to carry a second
: rope? All my life I have wondered why you
: can't rebuild a like team ropers instead of
: carrying a second rope. I've asked some
: pretty knowledgeable people over the years.
: No one could ever tell me why.
