Morning Christian Words of Encouragement – “Are YOU 100% sure, that you are Saved and headed to Heaven when you die? Are you sure YOUR name IS written in the Heavenly “Book of Life?” Is there absolutely not a shadow of a doubt in your mind, that your Salvation is already secured and you’re just waiting on the good Lord to call you home to be with Him? If the answer is “No, Not Sure, I Think So, Maybe, or Probably, then you need to get busy right now working on fixing that. You need to be totally sure where your Soul will spend eternity!” And AMEN goes right here….

Thought For Today – “Comfort Is Addictive”
Good Monday Morning Saints! How are you doing this morning, good I hope? I also hope that you had a good weekend? By a show of virtual hands, how many of you like to be “comfortable” at any given time? Comfortable at your home, or your home away from home, even on your job if you have one? I know I do, I have made specific accommodations at my home to be totally and completely comfortable at all times. It is with this train of thought, or line of thinking, that it was placed on my heart this morning to talk about “Comfort IS Addictive.” Now THAT my brothers and sisters will PREACH right there! And AMEN goes right here! Now, what led me to come up with my subject for today was a number of things. The first thing, was spending time with my son Dawson Friday evening and night, and then Saturday. Being that he’s in college now, and on top of that, living in the dorm, getting to see him is a treat within itself. However, he has apparently grown way to “comfortable” with me paying for everything when we do stuff together LOL. The other thing that made me come to today’s subject, was doing one of my favorite past times, watching college and NFL football games. I made sure that the furniture in my house and especially my mancave was very, VERY comfortable. But I have come to learn, that being “too comfortable” can become as bad as an addiction. What are you talking about Brotha Carlos? How can being “too comfortable” be a bad thing, with you comparing it to an addition? I’m glad you asked, I’ll be more than happy to explain it to you!
First, we need to define the word “addiction,” in order to understand exactly what it means. The dictionary definition of the word “ADDICTION” is as follows : “The fact or condition of being addicted to a particular substance, thing, or activity.” Now in look at the definition to “COMFORT”…. “A state of physical ease and freedom from pain or constraint.” Now, putting those two definitions together to relate it to my subject line, I come up with “The fact or condition of being addicted to a state of physical freedom and or constraint.” Now do you see how combining those two definitions changed the complexity of both words? If you would, please turn with me into your Bibles to the Gospel of Mark chapter 10 and starting with verse 38 and read to verse 42. In these passage of verses, Jesus is speaking to His disciples about taking up His Cross and following Him. He is also speaking about giving up our lives to “#39 – He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it.” In other words, you have to lose a lot of your “comforts” (People, Things, etc..) that we are comfortable with, attached to, or connected to in some way form or fashion, if we want to follow Jesus Christ. This is a very hard deal for some people, myself included. There are some people that God not only TOLD me to walk away from that I didn’t want to, He allowed those people to hurt me deeply in order for me to make the break from them, because He knew I wouldn’t do it otherwise. And ironically, not all people or things that God asks us to cut ties with are bad. However, they just don’t fit in with your destiny because they or it aren’t tied to that destiny God has for you. And AMEN goes right here also!
It is not just people and things that we can be addicted to, that we find “comfort” in but is not good for us, such as the wrong mentality also falls into this category. You can become addicted to a particular way of thinking that is not healthy. Remember, ALL addictions begin in the mind. Way before we ever engage in a physical act of starting anytype of addiction, it is first created in our minds. No drug addiction starts in the physical before it does the mental capacity. We have to first convince our mind and maybe even our conscience that “it won’t hurt me to try it just one time,” knowing all along that it will. But until we convince ourselves that it won’t hurt us, we are not brave enough to experiment with it. Where am I going with all of this you might be wondering, am I right? Well it is plain and simple actually. I am talking about worldly things, such as behaviors. By a show of virtual hands, how many of us indulge in a “worldly” addiction on a day to day basis? My hand was the FIRST one to go up and I was actually typing with one hand at that point LOL! Now, by another show of virtual hands, how many of you have become “comfortable” or addicted to indulging in some worldly addiction or another on a regular basis? Again, MY HAND was the first one to go up! And don’t assume that I’m only talking about just the hardcore worldly addictions, because there are some smaller or less popular addictive comforts that are in God’s eyes, just as bad as the serious or hardcore ones. Let me just drive this home, and make it crystal clear…… “ANYTHING that you are way too comfortable in doing on a regular basis and know God would not approve, falls under this blanket or umbrella of covered issues. And the reason I use the term “Comfort,” is because we actually have become way to relaxed in indulging in those behaviors that we know are wrong. We are so “Comfortable” nowadays, that some of us do them on a regular basis without even realizing it. Can I leave you with a question to ponder today if I may?
“How many of your known “comforting addictions” are you seriously trying to break free of, or are you totally content with continuing to do them?
Can I Get An AMEN????
“Today, choose to “Ride or Die” with Jesus Christ. Afterall, He did it for us!!!”
