Thought For Today – “God Speaks To Our Level of Understanding”
Good Morning Saints! How are you doing this morning, good and Blessed I hope? I was listening to my favorite online Pastor (Ron Crawford) and he was preaching on “ A Culture of Honor,” and one of the statements he made really stuck with me and blew me away at the same time. Here’s what he said, “The Kingdom of Heaven, is like treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again, and then in his joy went and sold all he had and bought the field.” (read Matthew 13:44). Now I would like to pose a question to my virtual congregation…………… “Why do you think God used so many analogies to communicate with us? For example, “I will make you fishers of men.” It is with this train of thought, or line of thinking, that it was placed on my heart this morning to talk about “God Speaks To Our Level of Understanding.” Now THAT will PREACH my brothers and sisters in Christ! It is funny, I never thought about it before, years ago when I read the Bible from cover to cover in a year. The Bible is riddled with analogies like I mentioned above. I want to make a very bold statement right here, and this is not someone else’s words, these are MY words……… “If you have read any amount of Bible verses, you know that God has a very high regard for Farmers and Fishermen.” He uses those two occupations so many times in the Bible, to analogize something that He is trying to relay to us, that it’s not even funny. What was the first paradise (on earth) He created for Adam and Even called? Ummmmmm, last I checked it was called The “Garden” of Eden right? It is very important as a Christian, that we are able to understand what the Bible is saying to us. I highly recommend that each one of you make it a point to read the Bible from cover to cover at some point. Most if not all Bibles, have a study guide in them that outlines how to read it in a year.
Now, one of the biggest points that Pastor Carpenter made in his series (10 Sermons) on “A Culture of Honor,” was that the analogy of God hiding the Kingdom of Heaven in a field, was that the reason some people get to receive more of God’s Blessings than others, is because some people have mastered the art of looking past all of the “dirt” that is covering the Blessings. In other words, you failed to recognize the person that God sent to deliver your breakthrough instructions, because you spent all of your time judging their “dirty” outer shell. As Pastor Crawford to elegantly stated to his congregation, “God isn’t going to send His Angels Gabriel, or Michael, nor will He Himself appear to you on a daily or weekly basis in person to deliver a message to you, He is going to send Susie, Billy, Jimmy, or even Carlos to do it for Him. He uses everyday normal (well I’m normal most of the time contrary to my good friends and co-workers LOL!) people just like you and me to do it. But the problem is, that just like the Kingdom of Heaven Treasure, it is hidden DEEP in the dirt of the field. In order to receive messages, Blessings, and even instructions from God Himself, we as people have to be willing to look past how dirty the messengers’ outer wrappings, core, shell, or even appearance is, and focus on the message itself that he (or she) is delivering. Especially if you see that the message has being delivered to you is touching on something that you have gone thru, are currently going thru right now, or will go thru in the future. I doesn’t take a rocket scientist to hear a message and know without a doubt that it is coming from the heart of someone. Just imagine if we as people, but more importantly Christians in Christ, were able to look past all the dirty outer shell of the people who are trying to speak to us about Jesus Christ, how Blessed we would all be? But we are too hung up on outward appearances aren’t we? “So in so had the nerve to come up to me talking about Jesus Christ when I know he used to be a crackhead, I heard Mary was calling herself trying to prophesize over someone the other day, gurrrrrrrrrl you know she done slept with half the men in town, who does she think she is? Ya’ll ain’t going to believe this, Paul was over at the shade tree where everyone hangs out drinking and smoking in our town trying to minister to all those men about getting Saved and Jesus Christ, when he just got out of jail himself for being a drunk and a drug user!” None of those three scenarios (background wise of the three examples I used) disqualified them from being able to relay a positive Gospel message to the people they tried to speak to.
If you look all throughout the Bible stories, you see that God used broken people to be messengers, prophets, and disciples for Him. Moses was a drunk, did that stop him from being used by God to deliver the children of Israel from bondage under Pharaoh? NOPE! Getting back to my original subject, it would be hard even in this day and age of high intelligence, for God to get us to understand His Heavenly Kingdom mentality so that is why He uses analogies. For example, “I will make you fishers of men,” here God is referring to saved people as the Fishermen, and the fish that it talks about them catching is lost souls. And Heavenly Kingdom treasure is buried in a field, describes that deep down inside of each of us, we have a Godly Spiritual treasure, but it is buried/planted deep under layers and layers of dirt and soil. Another famous Biblical quote talking about the Faith of a Mustard seed. Here God is using one of the tiniest seeds known to man, that can survive in just about any kind of soil due to it genetic makeup and determination. And also think about God/Bible talking about planting seeds in order to reap a good harvest. There are a lot of other different analogies used in the Bible to break His word down more plainer for us. Here’s another good one, “Simon Simon, Satan has asked for permission to sift you as wheat.” Have you ever seen your grandmother or mother make homemade biscuits or pie crust? If so, then you know what sifting wheat is . The only way we can get closer to God, and have a really strong relationship with Him is to read your Bible and learn to break down His Word so that you can not only understand it, but also so that you can minister it to someone else. God uses Farmers, Farming, and Fishermen and Fishing to analogize His messages He is trying to relay to us. Can I leave you with a question to ponder today if I may?
“How Well Do YOU Understand God’s Messages and His Messengers When You Are Faced With/By Them?”
Can I Get An AMEN?????
“Today, chose to “Ride or Die” with Jesus Christ!”
