Thought For Today – “When God Allows Rain To Fall On Your Seeds of Greatness”
Good Morning Saints! How are you doing this morning, good I hope? Have you had a good work week, I sure hope so? As I was following my normal morning ritual as of late, of listening to my favorite online pastor, his sermon I chose this morning was about “Seeds of Greatness.” After listening to this message, I kept getting the same thought popping up in my mind, “Everyone has seeds of greatness in them, but why is it that God waits to allow rain to fall on some, but not on others?” It is with this train of thought, or line of thinking, that it was placed on my heart today to talk about, “When God Allows Rain To Fall On Your Seeds of Greatness.” Now I know that’ll PREACH right there! And I know that right there would be a very good place for an AMEN! Pastor Ron’s sermon went into talking about how a lot of people who are adults still acts like adolescent children. His Bible verses for his subject came from the story about the blind man that Jesus restored his eyesight (read John 9: 1-12 verse). One very strong point that Pastor Ron made was, “What can I render to the Lord for all that He has done for me? Because childlessness left un-mentored will destroy everything it touches.” Describing that statement, He said that whenever God Blesses us with something big or small, we are not only expected to, but required to recycle sometype of Blessing to someone else. If we follow this cycle we will experience seasons of excess. If we break this cycle, we will experience seasons of drought.” And AMEN also goes right here….
Now I’m going to go in a little bit different direction than Pastor Ron did. I am going to discuss some other people in the Bible, whom God allowed “rain to fall on the seeds of greatness” to fall on certain people and the most opportune times. The very first one that comes to mind, is Noah and his family (read Genesis chapters 6-9) before the great flood. Because Noah was Faithful to God’s covenant (rules and guidelines of how to stay in good Fellowship with God), God forewarned him about the impending flood, and that it would destroy the entire earth. At that point, God allowed rain to fall on Noah’s ship (or Ark) building skills so that he would be able to build the great Ark to carry his family and 2 each of every animal on the earth. The next example that comes to mind, would be that of young David, whom I spoke briefly of in yesterday’s message. David went to the battlefield to check on his brothers who were soldiers in the Israelite army engaged in battle (at least they were supposed to be) with the Philistine army, and their champion soldier Goliath the giant. It was on this very day, at that very moment, that a young shepherd boy experienced God allowing his seeds of greatness to be watered and fertilized both at the same time (read 1 Samuel 17)! If you know the story, young David slew (killed) the Giant Goliath with just a sling shot and 5 smooth stones.
The next person that comes to mind, who experienced God irrigating their dormant seeds of greatness, would be Joseph (read Genesis 37). Joseph was the youngest son of Jacob, who was the son of Isaac. They lived in the land of Canaan which is also known as the Israelite’s “Promise Land.” Jacob was always telling his father bad things about his brothers, and somehow gained great favor in his father’s eyes. Well as you can imagine, Joseph’s brothers didn’t take too kindly to being ratted out to their father by their very own brother. So the brothers hatched a plan to nip Joseph’s actions in the bud as the old saying goes. They cast him out of the family, took him away and threw him in a well. Then, a caravan of slave traders happened by and he was sold into slavery. And watch how God works your enemy’s attacks for your better good: The very person Joseph became a slave for, was Pharaoh! The highest political power position person in all of Egypt. After a brief period of serving Pharaoh, Joseph gained great favor in Pharaoh’s eyes. So much so, that Pharaoh appointed Joseph to become Prime Minister, which is the 2nd highest position in Egypt! You see, the moral to all of these stories from the Bible, is that nomatter what kind of condition your life is in right now, we all have “seeds of greatness” planted deep inside us. All it takes for those seeds to sprout, blossom, and bear the good fruit of success, is for God to water them. However, this does not happen unless you find favor with God. And as I have said so many times before, you can’t find favor with God if you are not in good Fellowship with Him! What is the reason you are not in good Fellowship with God you might ask? Un-confessed S-I-N plain and simple! Any evil you are engaging in, planning, plotting, or even allowing to fester in your heart, that is one of the things that is keeping you from having your seeds of greatness watered and fertilized. The Bible will tell you, that anytime you have hatred in you for someone else, or you try to do evil for evil because it was done to you, that you are just as likely to not see God working Blessings in your life until you can clear all of that pain, anger, resentment, vindictiveness, spite, jealousy, envy, whatever it is inside you, that is keeping you from living peaceful and harmonious with God and your fellow man. God is a god of LOVE and COMPASSION! He hates evil doers, evil dwellers, evil thinkers, and evil plotters. And one thing about God, is that His justice/punishment has a way of matching the crime! Think about that the next time you think about seeking revenge on someone! Can I leave you with a question to ponder today if I may?
“Why Hasn’t YOUR Seeds of Greatness Been Watered?”
Can I Get An AMEN???
Long Live Real Cowboys!
