My horse has had a lot of respiratory problems for a year. He had flapper valve removal surgery, Epiglottis detached, and now a lot of what he eats gets into his windpipe. He has very little wind and hacks and coughs and struggles to breathe when exercising. The next thing is to place a "trach" into his windpipe thus eliminating whatever he eats entering his windpipe and thus his lungs. The question is have any of you experienced a horse with a trach or known of a horse with a trach? Thanks for any and all input.
