Posted by Maire on 1/26/2007, 3:36 pm The play was fun, I love that kind of witty bantering. The actors were all quite good. The theater was rather bizarre. It was at a state college, so it looks rather new. The stage was down a level from the seats, which were in a steep stadium configuration. Gave me vertigo just looking at it. It was odd to be looking down at the performance instead of up. The English accent took me a bit to get used to. He also whined a lot, and that was quite a departure from Myron, especially. Since the play did not have a discussion scheduled, at intermission I asked at the box office where I should wait if I wanted to meet the actors. They were seriously unhelpful. According to them, the actors gave no sign they intended to "come up" to the main level and meet fans etc. So I was out of luck. Ok then.... After the show ended, I waited a bit on the main level, since some of the ushers said you couldnt get out of the building unless you came to that level. One then pointed me to a certain staircase and said that theyd have to come up that way from the stage level, and I should go down and the dressing rooms etc. were right off that. And they were - there was a sitting area at the bottom, and a corridor lead off that. You could see the dressing room doorways, and people were bustling about. Not being quite brave enough to barge in in case people were changing, I waited outside. That was probably my mistake. A few people came out the door and went up the stairs, but eventually the noise died down, and when I went into the corridor, it was empty. I never heard Steve's voice, as that would have spurred me to action, but there was another exit on the other side of the building, and they must have gone that way. I should also point out it was snowing and about 25 degrees at that point, so perhaps they were anxious to leave. In any case, after waiting for about 20 minutes, we eventually left. Im scheduled to see it again near Pittsburgh on Feb 6. I dont think that has a discussion either, so I am going to have to barge in even if everyone is in their skivvies, I guess.
Saw the play, didnt see him, is the Readers Digest Condensed version. ![]()
