Posted by vegan/virgin on September 22, 2001, 11:00 am however, when i type in "boy," i see plenty of pedophile pages & sexually degrading sites for boys, as well as for girls. i'm not sure what i can add to this topic, as i'm voluntarily celibate & will continue to be so for probably the greater part of my life.. however, i feel that people will always try to disempower us as women - be it sexually, academically, socially, spiritually, etc. - but we have the ability, brains, & strength to counter this disempowerment with self-empowerment. sexism is like racism is like homophobia is like classism - all are disempowering & will exist only as long as we continue to let these things disempower us. and i know it's not that simple, but self-empowerment is the first step, which is what someone also said earlier.
i typed in "girl" & i saw many sites - girl scouts of america, girl power! campaign homepage, & girl tech club are the first 3 sites - perhaps i am using a different web browser from you..
