Posted by nina on March 13, 2003, 5:54 pm I REALLY enjoyed Women's Day in Vrankrijk! It was the first year that I actually celebrated March 8th. After the workshops there were performances by Bunnies On Strike-spoken word (even better than at Ladyfest. really cool topics and texts!), Joke Kaviaar (very talented lady! great writer) and Sabrina C. (I only saw a part of her performance but it was really great music! very catchy and melodic! a pity that the audience was so quiet). So the rest i didn't see anymore. What was Estrokings like? Nina

Hi,
It was very nice to meet so many cool grrrls and boys (some that I hadn't met before) and the activities ruled!!!
It was only the second time for me that I participated in a self-defence workshop and i've learned so much! at school this week i drew and wrote down all the tips & tricks that i remembered and i'm gonna put them on my websites and in a zine/flyer or so. It's so important that all women know these self-defence tricks & tips!
The zine workshop was very inspiring. I want to do something similar at Ladyfest Liège or so. When the zine was finished it was hard to believe that we made it in less than 2 hours! Hmmm... has anyone got an idea for a name/title for the zine?
Then: Bunnies On Strike radical cheerleading. After the Bunnies performed their cheers we started writing new cheers and making pompons out of plastic bags (yeah, recycling!). I think the cheers that were made up by Bunnies On Strike that day and before are really genius! I've tried it too a while ago, but I'm a bad writer. Also, I wish i was not so shy so I would dare to shout and cheer more. But anyway it's cool that the radical cheerleaders are expanding and have recruited new members!
Oh and Tanja, the 7" and the Bunnies On Strike zine rule! I love them both!
Keep rioting grrrls & boiz!
PS. if any of you reading this have any ideas for the Riot Grrrl Benelux Chapter website (http://www.geocities.com/riotgrrrlbenelux) let me know. At the moment I'm looking for profiles, lists of places and gig organisers in the Benelux (for bands/performers looking for gigs), maybe some various info (reviews, articles, self-defence info, stuff like that), riot grrrl/feminist/etc projects and dates for riot grrrl-related activities. Also if you have some ideas for a "womanifesto" please tell me. I was thinking about a list of topics that we care about & want to fight for or something like Kathleen Hanna's manifesto and everyone makes a few lines that i can all put on the site. Tell me what you think! There's no guestbook but you can reply here or mail me or write something at the RGB forum http://forum.onecenter.com/forum-rgb/. Thanks
