December, 1957
Dear Mr. Sontelli:
In October, I purchased a 1957 Borgward Isabella Touring Sports model from you. I thought I would write and tell you how we, that is my father and I, feel about the car.
I needn’t tell you how pleased we are with the quality and workmanship on the car, like the excellent paint and luxurious interior, these are self-evident. One need only look at the car to see this.
Rather, I’d like to tell you about the performance, roominess and roadability, which one has to experience to really enjoy. Every road test by such famous magazines as Car Life, Motor Life & Road and Track has spoken glowingly about these qualities of the car and I agree heartily with them
So, I say that the riding comfort, ease of handling and roadability are excellent. To repeat, one has to experience these qualities to really enjoy them.
I could write about other features, like the large trunk, and the system for jacking up the car, etc., but this would become a book rather than a letter.
In conclusion, may I touch upon fuel economy, “gas mileage”. In all fairness to the newness of the car, I haven’t checked the gas mileage (I feel it should be done when the car is properly broken in) but from what I see I feel you can get all the mileage that is claimed for it and possibly more.
Yours truly,
William --------

P.S. Please feel free to show this letter to anyone interested in a Borgward.
