I like how back-room and under-handed and genuine how this offer sounds, but I don't think what you suggested is implementable. This is because I am not in the US about 4-5 months of the year, which is a big problem.
Yes, I'm using the URL redirect instead of URL cloak now, which seems ok (what are the "some things that don't work" that you mentioned?) except for some reason it was "down" last night and wasn't referring for a few hours.
