Tom -
I spoke with Pietta directly. They informed me that the twist rate is not conducive to anything but round balls - it is 1 in 30. I basically figured that I didn't want to go through the hassle of casting a bunch of pure lead bullets, then having them be a disappointment, so I abandoned the idea. Sorry.

: Mike I am considering trying the Rainer 200
: grain at .452 with gas check. Do you have
: any updates of using your molds and the

: Just got a Pietta 44 - 1858 Remington style.
: I am wondering if I can use some of my 45
: cal. moulds to cast pure lead bullets for
: this - I have 185, 205, 230, and 255 grain
: moulds and a fair amount of pure lead. I
: know for sure that 2 of these moulds casts
: at .454, which is Pietta's recommended size.
: Thanks in advance for your advice ! Mike
