Hi Bill,
At one stage I had about 12 antigue rifles of various types. All were mechanicaly sound with various degrees of wear in the barrels. I managed to get most of them shooting quite well and you can have a lot of fun sorting out the right load and projectile for each gun. Fred sums it up spot on. If it looks mechanicaly sound Test fire the baby and go for it. Might pay to keep the loads down a bit just in case the modern powders have a bit more grunt than the powders of the old days.
