Whistling Minie' balls

I shoot .58 cal RCBS simi-wad cutter minie balls. Also called the RCBS NSSA. My friends at the range claim that they whistle as they go down range. I have high frequency hearing loss and can't hear them. Am I being spoofed or has anyone heard of this before?
