Your Billingshurst rifle is probably a target rifle. Billingshurst was famous for target rifles, and revolving rifles. A dead give away will be if the muzzle has four holes around the bore, to center a false muzzle for loading. This doesn't mean that it couldn't have been used for hunting, its just a little heavy for hunting, even buffalo. I wouldn't shoot it until I had it completely checked by a gunsmith, that knows muzzleloaders. It no doubt has been shot with heavy loads, and may have breach plug damagefrom pressure or corrosion.
