hidy yall..i recon im gona try to build a black powder flintlock rifle. ultimately i wana build a rifle from scratch(stock from block)flintlock penn rifle with my own theme.im not sure i wana just replicate a lancaster rifle to spec. or anyone elses.i guess i gota add my own twist to it. (make it my way kinda thing).im still roundin up some resources as im sure im gona need down the road.i got some how to build, engrave and carve videos.been learnin about swamped barrels, siler and chamber locks. and the more i study the more i get excitied about getting started.the thing is..i know better than to get best kit out there because i know it will put me in my place..haha ive often thought about buying a old rifle from someone who dont hunt no more.tearing it down and fiddlin' with it.sorta learn the basics.restain, reblue or brown and maybe carve a lil and i wont have a war pention in it but hopefully a lil more knowledge from it to carry on the my first kit.i know carving and engraving come later down the road and id like to make my own inlays(hopefully..just excitied is all). ive looked at the kits you can get at the big hunting stores.long rifles are 2 pc.i dont think i like that myself.ive even thought of just buyin a b.p. pistol.i figured same basics are there just smaller scale. if yall got any ideas on anything or even more rescources,id be glad to hear them.
