Thanks Tacks, I'll do that. If you don't mind, I'd like your take on another subject. I don't have any muzzle-loader rifle, and I would like to get one, (I don't or rather can't expend too much). Today I checked Cabela's site and they offer a very nice Hawken kit in .54 or .50 caliber for only $200 (if you add freight and custom duties it's going to cost me $350). Maybe you can tell me if they are any good? Thanks and regards

: i use the technique you saw the old guy do
: with my long guns for competition accuracy.
: I use a prelubed strip about 2" wide
: then seat the ball with a short starter so
: it's just below the end of the muzzle then
: simply cut flush across the muzzle with a
: sharp knife.
: The trouble with petroleum products and BP
: is the heat and residue of the powder
: burning mixed with oil leaves a nasty really
: hard "gunk" in the bore. This
: stuff is simular to Asphalt pavement in
: chemical nature and will foul the rifling
: immediatly. It can be cleaned out but it
: takes hours of scrubbing and lots of
: solvent.
: Margarine might be too slick. I know gents
: that use "shortning" like Crisco
: melted with beeswax to stiffen it up a bit.
: The way's of patch lube are many and varied
: and sometimes coveted secrects, log on to
: the "Muzzleloading Forum" or the
: "Traditional Muzzleloading
: Association" here in the states. These
: sites are huge and free. you'll find lots of
: info there,,tell'm "tacks" sent
: ya!
