I am just getting into shooting a Zouave myself. So far I have found that I get the best groups with Minie" balls from a Lyman 213 mold. I buy them from Track of the Wolf. I will eventually buy a mold. I use 60 grains of Pyrodex RS and Remington #11 caps. The main problem I have encountered is the sights. They aren't adjustable at all. If yours shoots to point of aim at 100 yards you are extemely lucky. I eventually gave up on the standard sights and put a Williams adjustable rear sight and a taller blade front sight on it. If yours is on in windage you might bring in elevation by adjusting the powder charge. The design muzzle velocity is 950 fps (I think). That should make the other two rear blades work. I posted some other specs earlier, they may be down there somewhere.

: To anyone, I just picked up a (never
: fired).058 Zouave musket, it's a replica
: made in Italy, not too much info on the
: barrel. The gun is in fantastic shape, and
: I'm guessing for $120.00, I scored. I plan
: on deer hunting with it this season. My
: question to anyone that has this same gun
: is, what is a good ball/mini ball and
: measurement of Pyrodex? Also, the word
: "FARA" is engraved in the barrel,
: do you know what that is? Thank You for
: any/all infomation. Stephen
