This is the second nipple this has happened to. I have a .54 cal CVA percussion. I use #11 primers on it. I had problems with the orginal nipple after about 2 years of use. The primers would fit on, but when the hammer fell nothing happened. It would take a second hammer fall to set the primer off. What it appeared happened is that the nipple had expanded and the primer would only fit on so far. Because it was tight, the hammer would only push the primer down sligthly, and it would not contact to fire. I replaced the nipple and solved the problem. After 2 years with the new nipple the same thing has happened.
Suggestions on why this is occuring? I would like to solve it so that I don't have to keep replacing nipples every few years, and finding out when I need to replace them when there are deer in the sights (has occurred on both occasions).
Thanks
