My stateside research says;
It did use a 31 cal ball with about 12.5 grains of fffg powder. The recorder did say that they achieved "a "palm sized" group at 40 feet with the 50 grain ball",. I hope that info helps.
Stateside we have .32 cal ball known as 00 buckshot, or double aought' buck. Other info;
Colt began prodution in 1847 and marketed the 1849 pocket model through 1877, they made about 340,000. It's a classic because the Colt Navy and Army models, followed the basic action modifications that the pocket model developed.
