I have lots of years of "plinking" with a .50 Cal Hawken, never hunted with it or fired other blackpowder rifles. (pistols/revolvers but no other rifles.)
My wife recently became interested in "primative biathlons" here in New England and wants a "very accurate, lower recoil" percussion rifle to compete.
My thoughts:
- not too expensive in case she changes her mind
- long barrelled .32 for accuracy and lower recoil
If this is just for targets at 50 yards or less - is there any real advantage of a larger caliber?
Thanks!
Ben
