In case anyone is interested, there is a historic rifle to be sold at auction this year--bids now being received and to be concluded in November '07, I believe. The 1867 German muzzle loader was probably made for the Franco-Prussian War and was later bought surplus by the Illinois Militia. Likely it saw action somewhere, since there seems to be two repaired bullet holes in the stock. Most likely .69 calibre. To see it, go to www.arusticgarden.com and then click on "Silent Auction ..."
