best projectile for .54 cal

i recently purchased my 1st bp lyman trade rifle .54 cal. I am about to purchase a bullet mould to cast my own slugs, I was wondering if anyone could advise me on projectile type. Would a solid base or hollow base be better? If anyone has experience with this rifle, I would be glad to hear from them.
