well can't find anything on the churchill beyond UK made. A known twist rate of the barrel would be helpfull. A 1-72 thru 1-60 being a slow twist for patched round ball or a 1-32 thru 1-28 being for a conical type projectile, number of and depth of groove can also be helpfull.
A general rule of thumb for 2f powder charge is 1.5 times diameter of bore. Thus a .54 would use an 81 grn load of 2f or equivilant for a nominal charge. I shoot two .54 cal modern replica types and "Max load" recomended is 100 grns of 2f or equivilant for both.
