I have noticed the same problem with my two 50 Caliber Knight Disk Elite Rifles. I am more concern with my blued Disk Elite rifle than the Stainless. Yes, the v-shaped bracket holds the rod in place by the sling screw and can at times scrtch off the surface of the bottom of the barrrel. I take mine off with the bracket by removing the sling screw off. I do that while at the range working loads for the rifles. I also remove the rod and use it while loading all day during extended shooting sessions. By the way, I bought the Cabelas T-handle ramrod and it is much better and useful that the standard that came with the Knight Disc Elite. The Cabelas 26 inch T-handle ramrod has a measuring ruler at the top, which aids you with consistent powder charges when loading. I think you will be happy with it.
