I have a replica '58 Remington and Ruger 'Old Army' that I have taken game with. Remington is 'Buffalo Hunter' 12 " BBL I installed stainless cylinder on. I took a wild hog with it, one shot at approx. 30 paces into neck/skull junction quartering away from me. Used self-made 'conical slug' from Lee mold over 4 gr. FFFFG and 24 gr. FFFG. Slug exited jaw joint and buried into ground, I recovered. Weight of hog - dressed and skinned was 98 lbs, young boar - excellent eating.
Took another wild hog with my Ruger, again total penetration with broadside shot through lung/heart area, hog was moving in light brush at 25 paces. Did not drop with the shot, went approx 100 paces and fell over thrashing and kicking until expired. Again used self-made conial slug from Lee mold, over 4gr. FFFFG and 32 gr. FFFg. Was large sow, could not weigh due to being on camping/hunting trip but estimated 250 -275 on hoove. Was very cold weather - January and after overnight hanging/draining we cut the ribs/chops off and cooked over oak/hickory fire. Basted with sauce made from condiments on hand. Very good eating.
Both pistols have adjustable sights and group as well as I can hold them.
