I have a interest in American civil war pistols, but have a very limited knowledge of same. Can anyone advise me if the Remington ball&cap pistol was converted to use a metallic cartridge. I realise the ball& cap pistol was originaly loade with powder wad and ball & then a form of paper cartridge , but I would like to find out how the chare was maintained whilst the gun was bumping on the owners hip etc . Anyone help
