Right, let's do some posting.
On the lube, I don't fill the front of the chambers completely, for me, that just makes a big mess. Like you said, it blows out of the unfired chambers before they get shot. I use a plastic syringe that I bought at the drug store for about 50 cents. I fill it with Crisco and run a small bead of it around the ball after it is seated.
Chainfires are real, the real cause is not known. Some Folks argue, from the front because of no lube. Other Folks argue, from the rear because of bad fitting caps. I don't think anyone knows for sure.
I use only caps that fit correctly (no pinching) and lube the front. I have never had a chainfire and hope never to have one.
