Hi Dave, I shoot the same gun. To do a thorough cleaning, I first pour about a "shot-glass" of solvent (#13) down the barrel. Squirt bottles work good. I pour with one hand and grip the breech end with the other (barrel is out of stock), while I put my thumb over the nipple to keep the stuff in there. Then I put the other thumb over the end of the barrel and rock it back and forth, while slowly rotating it. I do this for about a minute. Then, I set the barrel down on the bench, nested in a pile of old towels, so that the nipple is pointing up and the end of the barrel is higher than the breech. This keeps all of the solvent in the barrel. Now, carefully take a wet patch and stuff it into the end of the bore with your cleaning jag on the rod. Now, with a bucket or big coffee can under the nipple end, I rotate the nipple so it points at the can and push the cleaning rod with patch down the bore at the same time, hard! This pushes all of the cruddy solvent and dirt out the nipple and the pressure created helps flush out most of the crud. Then, I take out the nipple and the clean-out screw. That's the little set-screw in the side of the snail, just under the nipple hole. Then I get to work scrubbing everything out. Use a brush and patches in the bore; a Q-Tip in the nipple hole; and pipe-cleaners in the clen-out hole that goes into the barrel. A last flush, like the first, works great for preparing your gun for the lay-up between seasons. Now, lube 'er up an' put 'er together. A last word: When you replace the clean-out screw, make sure that you don't screw it in too far, as it will protrude into the nipple hole and it can actually block the flash from your cap. Screw it in so it sticks out about one thread. It will not feel tight, but that's how it works. It won't shoot out. Initially, it felt tight from the factory grease job. I hope I helped ya'.
Hey, have a good time shootin' and have a safe hunt,
'Dog
