Posted by NPW on 9/23/2003, 1:29 am CROWLEY: TWO COUNT! TWO COUNT! Calvin Astroth broke up the pinfall, sliding into the ring and drilling Direwolf with the ring bell three times! [A split-screen shot shows live action on the left, and a replay from a different camera angle is displayed on the right.] ON THE LEFT: Jaime McNulty gives Calvin Astroth room to work, as he discards the ring bells and starts to drill punches into the busted-open face of Direwolf, who struggles to move the bulk of the former Untouchable off of him. Squirming away, the two men clutch and punch at each other, rolling across the ring. ON THE RIGHT: The camera catches Calvin Astroth hopping over the guardrail at ringside ... as the crowd lets out a cheer. Sliding into the ring, Astroth is behind Direwolf, but in clear sight of Jaime McNulty. The replay slows to slow-motion as McNulty's hand wavers slightly before slowly dropping towards the canvas. The slight, calculated delay is enough for Astroth to dive forward, drilling the Alpha Male in the back of the head and breaking up the pin, before 'The Gift's hand slapped the canvas. [As the replay portion of the screen gives way to live action, Direwolf and Astroth - still scuffling - roll under the bottom rope and to the arena floor below! Inside the ring, McNulty watches them go ... before returning his attention to the other competitors.] MASTERS: We've still got a match going on ... there's no disqualification rules in effect here! Direwolf is going to have to tend with Calvin Astroth if he wants to win this match, but it's taking him too long ... as Edwards and Megaera are BOTH starting to stir! [Megaera has rolled up to a sitting position, her head between her knees as she tries to catch her breath and clear the cobwebs from her head. She's facing towards the crowd, however ... and doesn't notice that, behind her, Keith Edwards has struggled up to his hands and knees. What's more ... she doesn't notice as Jaime bends down ... and helps to hoist his Wrecking Crew teammate to his feet! Patting Keith on the back, Jaime points him towards the unsuspecting Megaera, whispering a few quiet words to the woozy Edwards.] CROWLEY: Wrecking Crew team unity finally comes to the surface! The champ's telling Edwards to finish it here! [Spurred on by his teammate, Edwards charges and jumps ... grabbing Megaera around the neck in mid-air ... and dives through the bottom and middle ropes, clear to the outside! In the process, he bulldogs the Fury onto the bottom rope, the elasticity of which hot-shots her back into the ring!] MASTERS: WHIPLASH! WHIPLASH! WHIPLASH!! CROWLEY: That's a Keith Edwards Special right there! [On the other side of the ring, out on the floor, Direwolf has somehow gained the upper hand on Calvin Astroth, now standing over him and raining down heavy fists into the balding man's face. Out of the corner of his eye, however, the Alpha Male sees Edwards fly out of the ring and Megaera flop backwards, clutching at her throat. He hesitates momentarily, considering the opportunity presented to him. It's a split second too much, however ... as Astroth does what he does best, and delivers a wicked low-blow to DW's nether regions! The big man crumples ... and drops to the floor in the fetal position!] MACE: Ooooh! So much for any little Pinthas!! I guess little Barry is going to remain an only child. [Edwards rolls back into the ring just in time to witness Direwolf's predicament on the outside. A wide grin spreads across his face as he turns towards the fallen Megaera.] [Leaning down, Keith grabs a handful a blue hair, pulling his smaller opponent to her feet ... before locking in a front facelock! Holding onto her catsuit at the waist, he bends his knees ... but before he can execute the suplex, Jaime McNulty steps in - and waves it off!] MASTERS: What's going on here? [In the ring, McNulty's gesturing towards Edwards, pointing to Megaera ... then himself! He's motioning for Keith to do something...] CROWLEY: I think he's telling Keith to set her up! MASTERS: What!? This is a travesty! McNulty's the referee here ... he's supposed to be impartial! [On the outside, Calvin Astroth has capitalized on his earlier low-blow. Unwrapping some tape from around his wrists, he's choking Direwolf out with it! The big man is struggling, writhing about and trying to get some air into his lungs.] MACE: Where's the referee? Look at Direwolf! [For the record, the referee - McNulty - DOES glance over at Direwolf ... but doesn't seem to be to concerned about the former champion's predicament. Instead, he's telling Edwards to hold Megaera up ... and the Golden Man complies! Pinning the young woman's arms behind her, he turns her to face 'The Gift' - who backs up two steps, and slaps his right thigh!] MASTERS: Superkick! Superkick coming up! [As Jamie hops forward, planting his left foot on the canvas, his right leg fires upwards. Megaera's eyelids flutter ... and somehow, she manages to twist out of Edwards' grasp! McNulty's unable to stop; Edwards is unable to move - and Jamie's boot catches Keith square under the chin!!!] MASTERS: HOLY MACKINAW!! McNulty just nailed Edwards! [Edwards' eyes roll up into his head as he totters, out cold on his feet. Jaime McNulty face is a mask of horror, realizing what he has just done. On the outside, Direwolf has struggled to his feet but Calvin Astroth still has the tape wrapped tightly around the hairy man's neck ... until Direwolf reaches back, wraps his arm around the Paranoid Genius' head and drops down, hitting a stunner! Astroth releases his grip on the tape!] MASTERS: Megaera, shaking off the effects of the Whiplash ... still feeling that Alpha Male Chokeslam ... and ... spinning leg sweep! She takes Edwards out at the ankles, dropping him down to the mat! [Climbing unsteadily to her feet, Meg grabs hold of Keith's ankles ... and somersaults forward, over his chest, into a bridge! Stunned, McNulty looks all around ... but has no choice except to drop down and start counting the pinfall. He slaps the mat ...] [On the outside, Direwolf staggers to his feet, grasping for breath ... pulls Astroth up ... and FIRES him shoulder-first into the steel ring steps! Turning, he spots Megaera straining to hold the bridge on Edwards. He slides under the bottom rope as Jaime's hand slaps the mat for the second time!] CROWLEY: This could do it! We could have our new number one contender RIGHT HERE! MACE: Not if Direwolf has anything to say about it! MASTERS: I don't Edwards needs much help ... look at him struggling to escape! [As McNulty's hand reluctantly falls towards the mat for the third time, things happen: Direwolf lunges for Megaera, but doesn't get far as Calvin Astroth has attached himself to the Alpha Male's ankle, dragging him down like an anchor; Keith Edwards twists and turns, bucking as he tries to slip out of the pinfall situation; and Megaera, her sinewy arms rippling with the strain of her effort, beads of sweat rolling down her face hangs on for dear life ...] [... and Keith Edwards kicks out ...]

[The ring bell tolled ... as it was struck thrice against the head of the Alpha Male, by the arriving Paranoid Genius, Calvin Astroth!! Jaime McNulty, rolling away from the bulbous Astroth glances towards the timekeeper ... and holds up two fingers!!
