Posted by NPW on 9/23/2003, 1:27 am CROWLEY: What's he gonna do here? [WHAMMM!!!] MASTERS: Death Valley Driver ... and he just PLANTED Megaera on the canvas! [Grinning widely, Edwards rises to his feet, and lifts his arms in mock celebration. As the crowd rains boos down on him, he proceeds to stomp his fallen opponent ... and manages to actually kick her out of the ring, to the floor below!] MASTERS: Megaera's out ... and Keith Edwards turns his attention to the still-unmoving Direwolf! [Kneeling down behind the fallen giant, Edwards intertwines his legs with Direwolf's, and hooks his arms under the big man's chin ... and leans back into an STF submission hold! Direwolf, spurred on by the pain receptors in his body, comes to life, flailing for all he's worth!] CROWLEY: STF - and he's got it LOCKED IN! Direwolf's struggling, but he's not gonna be able to reach the ropes here ... and Meg's not moving on the outside! Edwards could take it here! [Direwolf's arms are thumping against the canvas as he tries to escape the painful submission hold. McNulty's down on one knee, asking if the hirsute superstar wants to submit - but Direwolf's shaking his head 'no'.] MASTERS: Edwards is stretching Direwolf out here ... this has got to be incredibly painful - even MORE so after the punishment that has already been applied to the Alpha Male's neck already in this match ... and he's going to tap!! [Direwolf's hand is out, hovering mere inches above the canvas, as sweat pours off of his brow ... but he's not quite done yet. His hands clutch into fist ... and he strains ...] CROWLEY: Holy crap! He's actually powering out ... yes! Edwards can't maintain his grip ... and Direwolf's free! [Both men, exhausted from the effort, lie on the mat, catching their respective breaths. It's not long, however, before Edwards drags himself up to his feet. Staggering over, he reaches down to pull Direwolf up ... no! Small package!] [McNulty's down ... and counting:] [ONE!] .... [Edwards is kicking mightly, trying to break out of the hold ..] [TWO!!] [... and Edwards manages to ROLL through, reversing the pin! McNulty's already in position for the new count:] [ONE!!] [TWO!!!!] [THRE-NO! Kickout by Direwolf!] MASTERS: Is it just me, or did it seem like McNulty was counting the pinfall faster for Edwards than he has for Direwolf or Megaera? CROWLEY: What are you thinking, Bobbo? Wrecking Crew favoritism? That's a bold allegation ... I might just have to mention that to the champ after the show ... [Edwards is up to his feet first, but Direwolf isn't far behind. Using the ropes for momentum, Edwards charges at his foe ... no! Sidewalk slam from the man-monster Direwolf - and he just PLANTED Edwards into the mat!] [Slowly, deliberately ... Direwolf climbs up to his feet. Retreating back towards the ropes, he bends over, hands on his knees as he catches a breather ... but his eyes do not leave the fallen Edwards. Waiting patiently, he prepares as Edwards - perhaps not really realizing where he is - finds the intestinal fortitude to rise to his feet. Like a bolt of lightning, however, Direwolf CHARGES across the ring ... ducks his head ... [CLLOOOOOOONNN!!!!] MASTERS: ALPHA MALE MARKING HIS TERRITORY ... and Edwards is DOWN! [Direwolf's momentum - even after the devastating running headbutt - carries him into the opposite ropes, where ...] [CLANGGG!!!!] CROWLEY: MEGAERA!! Megaera just drilled Direwolf in the back with a steel chair from the outside! [Incredibly, however, the solid chair shot seems to have little effect - except that it certainly garnered the big man's attention. Stopping in his tracks, he slowly turns around to face his attacker ... but as he does so, Megaera climbs up onto the ring apron and delivers a shoulderblock between the top and middle ropes! Still ... Direwolf shakes it off ... and he grabs Megaera by the back of the head ... MASTERS: Liplock!! LIPLOCK!! Direwolf 's got the Liplock on Megaera ... and look at her fight it! [Like a woman possessed, Meg thrashes wildly to combat the submission hold ...] MACE: Ewwww ... I know I'd be tapping out by now ... [Grasping at straws, Megaera reaches up and grab two handfuls of the former champion's hair ... and she steps back, off the apron to the floor below, clotheslining DW onto the top rope in the process!] CROWLEY: That's one way to break that 'hold' ... and Direwolf's down, with even more damage having been done to his neck with that move! Where ... where's she going now? [Pulling herself back up onto the apron, Megaera foregoes a direct re-entry into the ring, choosing instead to head for the nearest turnbuckles! Scaling them to the top, she waits .. as the Alpha Male starts to stir! On the far side of the ring, Edwards seems to be out cold after the running headbutt...] MASTERS: Direwolf's up ... but he doesn't see Megaera, perched on the top turnbuckle! She's signalling for the 720 Phoenix DDT!! CROWLEY: If she hits this, it's OVER!! [Although the chain of events only took about a second-and-a-half, it seemed like a thousand. Megaera, on the top turnbuckle, sprang from a crouch, her body spinning in a flip not once, but twice in midair, as flashbulbs popped around the arena. Direwolf, innately sensing the presence of a person flying through the air towards him, spun to face his attacker. As Meg reached to encircle her larger opponent's head, looking for the high-impact DDT to complete her finishing maneuver, Direwolf was able to duck out of the way while simultaneously reaching up with his left hand, and applying ....] MASTERS: MANDIBLE CLAW!! MANDIBLE CLAW!! Direwolf's looking for the Alpha Male Chokeslam!! This could be over RIGHT HERE! CROWLEY: Not if Keith Edwards has anything to do wi---OOOOHH!! [Having struggled to pull himself up to his feet in the opposite corner, Edwards realized what was going on, and charged, his arms raised high overhead, looking to break up Direwolf's hold on Megaera with an axehandle ... but was caught, dead in his tracks, as Direwolf applied ANOTHER Mandible Claw, with his free right hand!] MASTERS: HOLY MACKINAW!! Double Mandible Claw! He couldn't ... could he?? CROWLEY: I think we're about to find out! [Grunting with exertion ... both opponents flailing, trying to escape ... Jaime McNulty, looking on, aghast ... Direwolf strains ... and lifts BOTH Edwards and Megaera up ... before dropping them both hard on the canvas, backs-first!] MASTERS: DOUBLE ALPHA MALE CHOKESLAM!!! [Jaime McNulty, having witnessed the awesome display of power firsthand, has his hands clutched over his mouth in amazement. Direwolf is on his knees, completely spent from the exertion of the power move. Kicking the now-limp form of Megaera out of the way, he flops his torso over the chest of Keith Edwards.] [Deliberately, McNulty drops down to his knees. Sliding a hand under Edwards' shoulders in a completely unnecessary fashion to make sure that they're touching the mat, the NPW Champ slowly - excruciatingly so - slaps the mat as the crowd counts along:] [McNulty looks up, his eyes locking with those of Direwolf as his hand slowly raises up again. Direwolf wordlessly glares back, his eyes filled with malice and ill will.] CROWLEY: These two have such a long history ... mentor and student ... friends and teammates ... but they've always been on the same side! MASTERS: That will all change, right here ... right now! [Jaime's hand slaps the canvas for the second time ... the sound resonating through the arena as the assembled crowd is completely silent, until a split second later as they continue to count:] MASTERS: Edwards appears to be out cold!! Megaera's unmoving in the corner!! CROWLEY: This is it!! Direwolf! McNulty! [Jaime's hand rises up once more ... wavers at the apex ... and the crowd raises a massive cheer, as the special guest referee's hand starts to fall. A gleam flashes in Direwolf's eyes as he's focussed solely on the NPW champion ....] ...... ...... [DING! ... DING! ... DING!] MASTERS: OH GOOD GAWD!!! [RAHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!]

[Megaera reels from the blow, her hands instinctively going to her jaw ... and Edwards capitalizes, hitting a spinning elbow that knocks her down! She's not down for long, however, as Edwards maintains his advantage, pulling her roughly up to her feet ... and lifts her onto his shoulders in a modified fireman's carry!]
