Posted by NPW on 9/23/2003, 12:58 am MASTERS : Fans, we're right back here in the Calgary Saddledome in Alberta Canada, and we're scheduled for an NPW Tag Team title match - a three-way elimination affair between NPW Tag Team champions "The Rock Machine", the team of Timmy Fantastico and "Badd Crazy" Louie Z, and the pairing of Calvin Astroth and Flare - and the lights have obviously gone out here. We're not entirely sure why, as they went out a minute or more ago, and we're not hearing any entrance music.... CROWLEY : I smell something a-brewin', Bobbo - and when the Crowbar's nose smells trouble, you know somethin' good's about to go down in the Dub! MASTERS : It certainly is an odd occurance, old pal - but let's fill the time by talking about what just happened between Japanese sensation Ultra Raptor and Canadiana champion "The Sensation" Danny Vicious - or rather, what didn't happen! CROWLEY : You mean ex-Canadiana champion Danny Vicious, Masters -- ARIEL [interrupting] : BOOOOOOOOOOO! CROWLEY : -- because Danny just got royally screwed by Angie Bishop and Joey Rose, and he's found himself without his prized strap! I knew there was something I liked about Angelina! HA! MASTERS : If you're just tuning in, fans, you've missed some exciting action this hour, but the main event and NPW Tag Team title match are still to come... and Joseph Rose just pulled the wool over the eyes of "The Sensation", and helped strip him of the Canadiana championship! Why do I suspect that Rose himself will soon be in contention for that title, Crowley? CROWLEY : Err... because Bishop said so? Heh. - But I wouldn't doubt it, Bobbo... as a successful TV champion, he deserves that chance. Angelina Bishop's gonna have to make a call - probably for "The Commissioner's Invitational" - to see who will be facing off to fill that strap. If Vicious got out of here with just a concussion after Rose's attack after the "countout" that took place a few minutes ago, he's a lucky man. ARIEL : Bishop is entirely too pooey these days! Danny didn't deserve the treatment he got from her and Joseph Rose! MASTERS : Certainly not, but she's the Commissioner, and what she says apparently seems to go around here --- [As Masters speaks, the NationalTron flares to life, and the face of the raven-tressed Angelina Bishop comes over the screeen as she steps out onto the stage under it. The boos and cat-calls of the fans rise throughout the arena quickly. Standing and flanking her on either side are her bodyguards, the Kurosawa sisters. Angelina smiles, and prepares to speak.] MASTERS : Speak the devil's name, and she shall appear.... ANGELINA BISHOP : Ladies and gentlemen... good evening. In two short weeks, the NPW pay-per-view "The Commissioner's Invitational" will take place, live from Halifax, Nova Scotia. That card, where the matchups will be determined completely by myself as Commissioner, will be the dawn of NPW's new outlook on professional wrestling - an outlook that will help this company succeed on the worldwide stage we are presently feeling out on our current "World Tour". NPW must remain in a constant state of change - and while we will continue to bring you all the great action you have come to know and love, our focus must shift to grow with the times, and give you great fans what you want... and not what various dinosaurs of the industry want to keep re-hashing time and time again. MASTERS : Oh, my... strong words from the Commissioner - are we looking at a pay-per-view without a Direwolf or a Cal Astroth? BISHOP [continuing] : While I am quite sure that there is a place for tradition in NPW, the fact remains that we must place the emphasis on our younger, fresher, hungrier talent, and not fall into the trap of regurgitating the same product over and over again -- VOICE OF SAM CARNAGE [over the P.A. system] : "Regurgitating?" MASTERS [as Carnage emerges from the back] : And here's the NPW President, on his way out here to respond to the Commissioner's words! [Sam Carnage, mic of his own in hand, steps across the stage. Dressed casually as always in a pair of jeans and a black NPW tee, Sam adjusts the red ball cap on his head bearing a white Canadian maple leaf. As the cheers subside, he shakes his head and looks to Bishop.] CARNAGE : I'm going to make this as short and sweet as possible, Angelina, because I don't want to turn into someone who takes up a crapload of Firefight airtime when there's actual talent to be seen around here. CARNAGE : A few weeks ago, you and our so-called "Chief Official" stole the NPW championship away from the greatest champion this promotion has ever seen, because you felt that Jaime McNulty was the future of this company. Then, you denied Rob Brimstone the chance to win back what you took from him. Now, you've screwed Vicious out of the Canadiana championship, presumably because you feel Joseph Rose is the man who we all ought to be watching instead. BISHOP : You can't make an omlette without breaking a few eggs, Sam. This company will die without fresh blood being constantly injected... and who really wants to see Danny Vicious wrestle time and time again? I'd much rather -- CARNAGE [interrupting] : This company will die without us relying on the people who got us here. I've been standing in the back, watching you run roughshod over the established talent in this company for the last few weeks... and that's because you have a vision of what NPW should be. I respect that vision, Angelina - you are a visionary, I'll give you that - but the price you're willing to pay to get us there is too much. You're about to unleash a pay-per-view on our fans that doesn't have a Direwolf or a Calvin Astroth in it... and I'm not going to let that happen. BISHOP : Unless you've stepped out here to fire me, Sam, I'm sorry to say that I don't think there's much you can do about it. Rules for "The Commissioner's Invitational" clearly state that the Commissioner selects all the matches his or herself. Are you firing me, Sam? CARNAGE : I probably should, Angelina, but no - that's not the way wrestlers do business. But I'm not firing you, because that would deny Direwolf, Brimstone and the rest of the so-called "old guard" a chance at you, the Mcnultys, and the Edwards of NPW. But I am going to do something. [Carnage steps further out onto the stage, stopping at the top of the ramp and turning to face Angelina.] CARNAGE : There's something you don't get, Angelina. Direwolf's tried to explain it to you, but you're not listening. You're not NPW. I'm not NPW, either, for that matter; that's an unfortunate matter of just how things went in my career more than anything else. Neither one of us ever shed any blood, sweat or tears building this place from the ground-up. The difference between us is that I recognize that... and the best I can do for National Pro Wrestling is to put my faith in the way this place was built into the hands of someone who did put everything he had into making NPW into the best indy promotion on Earth. MASTERS [sensing the inevitable] : Oh, here we go... CARNAGE : I'm more opposed to you shoving aside the established talent in NPW in favour of the newer talent than you can ever know, Angelina. It's my belief that you've got to earn your way up the ladder, and that no one starts at the top. But even though I'll go to my grave thinking that's what NPW is all about and that's how it should stay, the fact is that when I came here, NPW was already king.... and NPW deserves someone to lead this thing who was here from the beginning. That's why I'm creating a co-Commissioner position for National Pro Wrestling.... CARNAGE : ... a co-Commissioner position that will also choose the matchups for "The Commissioner's Invitational"... and which is going to be filled by someone who understands tradition... [The lights instantly drop, and red-and-white spotlights begin to zoom across the arena floor. As Angelina's darkening face turns towards the entranceway, familiar music begins to play...]

[As we return ringside, we find the arena in near-complete blackness, the distant emergency lights around the exterior walls of the Calgary Saddledome and the lighters of the fans presenting the only real lighting. As the cameras show wide-angle shots of the arena, the voice of Bob Masters speaks out.]
