I'm 'Dr. Clean' Bob Masters, alongside as always my broadcast colleagues, the incomparable Ken 'Crowbar' Crowley and the stunning Ariel Mace! And although you at home are joining us live right now via pay-per-view, we've just had a spectacular hour or two of tag team wrestling for the live NPW crowd! KEN 'CROWBAR' CROWLEY : BOBBBBBBB-BO! The first round of the Karen Mace Memorial Tag Team Tournament, shown right here in the arena for the live crowd only, was a great series of fights to lead us into the second round! And you geeks at home : if you've never seen an NPW show live, you are MISSING OUT! This crowd has just been on their feet for the last hour and a half, as eight first-round matches have blown the roof off this place! ARIEL MACE : AND MY MOMMY WOULDA BIN PROUD! Proud of the way this Tournament's gotten off to such a sweet start! YAY FOR NPW! BOO FOR CELEBRITY! HOORAY FOR EVERYTHING! MASTERS : Yikes. Fans, we're going to run down the first round matches for you right now, just before we head to our first televised matchup -- which is a break in the tournament that pits Dominic Demonstone vs. Terry Reed! And as that's gonna be one heck of a fight, there's already been a bunch of them! But for your enjoyment at home, let's show you a segment caught by NPW videographer Tanya Ryder on film earlier today! [The scene cuts backstage where at least five security guards are positioned outside of a locker room. A closer look at these security HARD: You gents are doing a fine job. Now I'll only be a second. I have to speak with my charges. [Ric attempts to enter the locker room when he's stopped by one of the larger guards.] GUARD: What's the password? HARD: Well this is absurd! I hired you bloody pillocks! Now step aside before I thrash the lot of you! [Once again, Ric is stopped by the guard.] GUARD: What's the password? HARD: Oh Christ's sake, I don't remember the bloody password. GUARD: Then you're not getting in. And you should know. You were the one who us not to admit anyone without a password. HARD: ANYONE EXCEPT ME YOU NITWIT! NOW STAND DOWN! [The guard lifts Ric by the collar of his polo shirt, and begins to carry him off.] HARD: Unhand me you brute! I'll see to it that you're reduced to a flashlight constable for the rest of your natural life! This is an [We cut back to ringside.] MASTERS : Well, it's pleasant any time we get to see the CAL CEO Ric Hard jammed up! But Hard finally DID manage to get into the arena tonight after being tossed out on his ass -- but my information says that it wasn't with the help of Larger Than Life! Interesting, that -- we'll keep you updated on any developments there! Let's get to the rundown of the first round now, as Ken Crowley works the 'Crowleystrator'! [Graphics fly across the screen announcing the first round competitors of the first match.] "SOLDIER" LAWRENCE CHEUNG and APOLLO CARRINGTON MASTERS : Starting now with the first bracket, we saw a hecuva brawl between Chosen Few representatives Slater and Sugar and Larger Than Life representatives Cheung and Carrington! And what a brawl it was, as the action spilled outside the ring to the floor, and even into the crowd! In the end, however, it was Carrington and Cheung going through with the pinfall victory! [Images show Slater and Sugar double spinebustering Carrington; Carrington hitting his frog splash on Slater; Cheung drilling Sugar with a strike to the face that busts him wide open, and Slater nailing Cheung with 'The Shank'. The last image shows Marty Sugar trapped in Cheung's 'Basic Training' STF, tapping through gritted teeth. New images fly by.] EXTREME INCORPORATED CROWLEY : Yeah. And our next match saw the powerhouse team of Danny V and Adam D battling the all-NPW team of Loie Z and Lonny Bash! VnD dominated this matchup, but EI managed to turn the tide late and pick up the win! [Danny Vicious nails Lonny Bash with a hanging vertical suplex; Adam Delicious wipes him out with a missile dropkick off the top. A staggering Lonny stops a Delicious charge with his 'Panic Button' dropkick, and Louie Z picks up the win a moment later with the 'Brainiac' headbutt, covering Adam for the three count.
