Posted by Kurt on 12/27/2001, 10:45 am The whisky was originally laid to rest in sherry oak casks in 1926, but in 1986 the distillery decided to fill 40 bottles. The auctioned bottle was the 25th and had no label. The auction price includes a label design to the purchasers specifications. The remaining bottles are in private collection around the world and one is at the distillery.
A single bottle of MaCallan 60 year-old was auctioned off at McTears Auction House in Scotland for the record-breaking sum of $21,000.
