There are decent and respectful Americans and there are rotten ones, and those in between, just as there are, I am sure, in Hong Kong. Don't let yourself get bitter and lose the chance of friendship with Americans who want to be your friend!

To the person who finds he was ripped off by an American roofer: We are European American (I guess that's how we are supposed to be identified for the purposes of this topic). We needed a new roof one year ago. Never would we have used some local "guy", American born or Asian or whatever: We went to an expensive, but get-what-you-pay-for roof and window company that has had a great reputation for 50 years, Wendel home improvement, on Jericho Turnpike in Mineola. We would never have done what you did: "take a chance" on someone you don't even know. That's not smart, not here in this country, not in any country. They did a fabulous job and our roof is perfect. It cost a pretty penny, but it always does if you want it done right.
