Local businesses can use a boost and new arrivals can continue the tradition. Otherwise, changes - unpleasant ones - are inevitable. Folks who had paid the price to be in the neighborhood to raise a family are here to stay. They have a vested interest as well, provided that the services match their needs locally. Just imagine that after paying an arm and a leg to move into the neighborhood and finding out that all the family services are outside of the neighborhood. It does not endear. And there's not much that need preserving. Knowledge is power. Sharing knowledge will bring about a sense of common cause among the older residents and the newly arrived. Those who moved out already won't be coming back any time soon. (They had cashed out and gotten what they hoped for.) Lamenting the old days won't strengthen the "troops". Enlisting the newly arrived and newly committed families can help preserve what's worth preserving in Bayside - its charm and character as the best place to raise a family.

This site is great for imparting wisdom and memories. They call for preservation.
