Posted by Karen Several things I remember is climbing the trees to the roofs of the garages. There was an old willow tree in back of the old toy store on Springfield Blvd. We used it as a cut thru. Lots of memories of Springfield Blvd. There used to be a fair in the vacant lot across from Walbaums. Kings had the best Chinese and I always used to snitch an apple from the fruit stand. I used to hand around the Red Arrow store all the time and my dad pratically lived in the Bell Bar. Other things I remember is skatebording from the driveway behind the apartments (Heather Gardens at the time--200 a month rent) on 67th near the dentist's office all the way down to the end. When I first moved there, in back was a playground but they tore all that down to make garages. I remember walking home from 213 and stopping in the laundry mat to get warm. Also suicide hill and the walkover bridge. The crooked dirt path up to the big courts with the fireplaces. Walking to IS 74 and also taking the path thru Alley Pond in back of 213 all the way to Bellerose almost. You came out at the 49 steps in front of Creedmore and the Grand Central Expressway. Gosh, so many memories of the place. Anyone remember any of this?

I moved to Bayside when I was 4 years old in 1969. We lived at 64-29 224th St Apt B. I went to PS 213 and then IS 74. Then I transfered to John Bowne HS, but lots of my friends went to Cardoza.
