Criminal Justice - Community Cashback
Community Cashback is a new scheme in England and Wales which gives local people a say in how £4million of recovered criminal assets (for example confiscated cash or property) should be spent in their communities.
You can suggest a project you would like to see happening in your area.
If you don't have a project to suggest, you can have your say on a project suggested by someone else in your community.
The five steps are:
1. You can suggest a project. The details and suitability are checked by your Local Criminal Justice Board (LCJB). Successful projects are then placed on this website so that you can have your say on your preferred project
2. The LCJB shortlists the best projects which in total are within the maximum bid amount for each area of £95,000. The shortlist is then submitted to the central panel* for scrutiny.
3. The central panel checks the suggested project bids against the project criteria
4. Funding is approved
5. Results of successful projects are published on website below.
As long as the basic criteria are met, there are no real restrictions on the type of projects can be put forward.
For example: you might want to suggest a project to renovate a children's playground or other area for young people which has become unusable due to criminal damage.
We really want your ideas but, to help get you started, here's a list of the some of the kinds of projects that you might want to suggest for your local area:
· Crime reduction and community safety
· Support for victims of crime
· Restoration and renovation projects
· New spaces or activities
· More and better information about justice outcomes
· Getting communities involved.
