BBC Sheffield and The Children's Hospital in Sheffield are joining together in the hope of making a difference to thousands of children and their families across South Yorkshire.
The BBC Sheffield Kids' Scanner Appeal wants to raise half a million pounds over the next six months to buy a new CT scanner for The Children's Hospital which is part of Sheffield Children's NHS Foundation Trust.

The Hospital's current scanner is now over seven years old and is used more than 1600 times a year and in need of replacement.
It shows bones, blood, blood vessels and soft tissue in the body, so from a broken bone to suspected cancer or perhaps a trauma incident and more, a CT scanner can make a huge difference.
Because of the developments in technology a new scanner will provide better diagnosis and treatment for patients which could make the difference between life and death for many children.
The Children's Hospital in Sheffield has been rated the best in the country, providing specialist care to people up to the age of 16. It not only treats patients from across South Yorkshire but from all around the United Kingdom too.
There is a chance that someone you know has been touched by the Hospital in some way. Keep listening to BBC Radio Sheffield in the coming months to hear some heart-warming stories from parents, their children and the hospital staff who make a real difference.
David Vernon-Edwards is director of the Children's Hospital Charity. "We're delighted to be teaming up with BBC Sheffield on radio and online to launch an appeal for this life-saving piece of equipment," he said.
"The Children's Hospital in Sheffield is currently the best performing Children's NHS Trust in the country and we want to continue to be at the forefront of paediatric care, using the best equipment possible.
"We hope everyone will get behind the appeal so our young patients can benefit from the latest in scanner technology as soon as possible."
