Working across 7 county districts to improve funding advice and information for voluntary and community groups in Nottinghamshire, you will work closely with partner organisations to increase their knowledge about, and awareness of, funding opportunities. You should have relevant, up to date knowledge of voluntary and community sector funding opportunities, be able to support groups to become financially sustainable, and have experience of building effective partnerships. We are looking for someone who is able to travel around the county in order to best meet the needs of groups and partners. Location of this post is flexible.
Strategic Volunteering Officer – full time 37 hrs
Salary £22,221 - £23,708 pa + up to 5% pension contribution

With a strong knowledge of volunteering best practice and ability to translate theory into practical advice, you will support the Volunteer Centre Manager to develop a meaningful city-wide strategy. You will have experience of designing and delivering training and good practice guides, developing partnerships in the voluntary, public and private sectors and be able to analyse and present complex information in a clear and straightforward manner. You will work to promote the benefits of volunteering, especially to harder to reach communities, and improve the consistency of the volunteering experience in Nottingham City.

You will lead on the Volunteer Centre’s volunteer matching service, supervising a team of volunteers to help members of the public find suitable opportunities. With responsibility for coordinating the day to day running of the service, you will have a strong knowledge of volunteering and experience of working in partnership to create new opportunities. Your excellent interpersonal skills will enable you to motivate and support a diverse group of individuals. You will be passionate about promoting volunteering, confident in supporting delivery of training and be organised in managing the priorities of a very busy service.

Salary £20,198 pa + up to 5% pension contribution

Utilising your previous experience of working with volunteers or as a volunteer, you will work with partner organisations to identify and create opportunities for citizenship volunteering, for example Magistrates and Special Constables. You will use your strong influencing and interpersonal skills to engage partners in the voluntary and public sectors in opening up and promoting citizenship volunteering and also create sustainable relationships with the Volunteer Centre.
This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference to Citizenship Volunteering opportunities in Nottingham. Applicants must be available to commence their employment on or before 1st November 2009.
