Will future development in Bassetlaw affect you?
The District Council is currently developing new planning policies, which will be drawn together in a document known as a Local Development Framework, to replace the current Local Plan.
The Local Development Framework will affect you, whether you live, work or have an interest in the area, as it will be used as the basis for assessing planning applications for new development over the next 15 years. It will also influence where new housing and employment sites will be located and aim to address some of the key challenges facing our District, such as affordable housing; decent employment opportunities; protection of rural services; enhancement of our high quality local environment; and a response to the likely effects of climate change, such as increased flood risk.
The first stage of consultation on the Local Development Framework will be seeking your views on how we should guide new development and what the local needs, issues and concerns are. In order to assist us in this process, we are running a number of public events across the District in September and October, where planners will be available to discuss any issues or ideas that you may have.
Dates and venues in your local area:
Saturday 12th September - East Markham Village Hall
Saturday 19th September - Harworth and Bircotes Leisure Centre
Saturday 26th September - Sturton-le-Steeple Village Hall
Saturday 3rd October - The Crossing, Worksop
Saturday 10th October - Retford Town Hall
The events will run from 10.00am until 3.00pm
From the week beginning 14 September, there will also be the opportunity to submit formal comments on our consultation proposals.
