Bassetlaw Primary Care Trust and partner agencies are holding an awareness raising and consultation event:
Wednesday 4th November 2009
10.00am and 4pm
Venue to be confirmed
The event aims to:
· Raise awareness of key health and societal issues
· Encourage active involvement between young and old generations and break down barriers.
· Consult with old, young and partner organisations to inform and action plan and Generate partnership activities across the area to take forward key themes
· Showcase achievements and celebrations
Background
· Bassetlaw has a high elderly population, large areas of rurality with pockets of deprivation within some of it’s communities
· There exists barriers between the young and old population which results in a lack of understanding between the generations, which can impact on issues such as fear of crime, lack of tolerance around leisure/play developments etc
· There is a real opportunity for delivering local interventions that will impact on some of the issues, such as skills sharing, (e.g. learning to grow/build, sharing interests like music and activities).
An agenda and details of venue will be circulated closer to the time.
