Dear Colleagues
Update on CRT Round 4 Funding
I wish to take this opportunity to thank you and your colleagues for the healthy uptake we have had so far with the Round 4 Funding Programme which will conclude in March 2011.
To date the Main Grant and Bridging the Gap schemes have substantially committed most of the funding allocation for our region, and we have a healthy crop of applications still in transit through our assessment process.
To cope with the oversubscription for our funding CRT’s Trustees have given new policy guidance which we would like you to highlight in any forthcoming newsletters you intend to produce for your community.
CRT wishes to ensure a fair spread of financial support across the most
needy coalfield communities, and will welcome new applications from
under-represented areas. For more details on eligible areas please
contact the regional office – tel 01246 820970
The major changes to each of the programmes are as follows:
Main Grant Programme
CRT will remain primarily a capital funder for the remainder of the current
funding programme.
To ensure a fair spread of investments with what remains of the current
funding allocation CRTs maximum award for the Main Grant will taper down
to £100k in financial year 2010/11.
CRT’s Trustees are particularly keen to receive applications for community
based projects that improve local facilities that provide diversionary
activities which tackle any of the following
a) poor eating and dietary habits
b) substance misuse
c) tackle incidence of teenage pregnancy
d) provide access to employment schemes and vocational training that improves the employability prospects of people in the most deprived local coalfield communities.
BtG Small Grant Scheme
The maximum BtG award is restricted to £5k and is subject to a new test of eligibility based on beneficiaries coming from top 50% deprived areas on 2007 IMD measure.
BtG programme can provide both capital and revenue funding or a mix of both.
a) Match funding is not required if project costs are £5000 or less
b) Confirmed match funding will be required for projects of between £5000 and £100,000 - letters of confirmation will require to be provided
c) Groups total unreserved income must be less than £100,000
Type of projects that are eligible to apply are those that
o Improve a community facility
o Helps people into a job
o Provides training that teaches people a new skill or enables them to get a qualification
o Setting up a new social enterprise
o Gets people involved in physical activity or addresses a local health issue
o New service or activity for the community – must not displace or replicate existing services
o Setting up a small transport scheme that enables people to access opportunities difficult to access because of their location
o Provide new places in after school clubs, holiday play schemes, playgroups or nurseries
o Promotes volunteering activity and gets new people involved as volunteers
I would very much welcome it if you could provide us with an update in your next newsletter to carry this message and ensure that community groups know that whilst we have a healthy pipeline of projects at present we are still open for business to new prospects if they can deliver on the above objectives, and can demonstrate that they are deliverable within the timescales of our increasingly narrowing funding window of opportunity.
Please refer all groups to the regional office of CRT to test out their funding propositions – telephone number as supplied above.
Yours sincerely
