Dear Colleague
Volunteering - the OEM Partnership Conference
Bringing together the third sector and partners that coordinate volunteering in the East Midlands
Wednesday 9 September 2009
Hallmark Hotel, Derby, DE1 2SQ
This is a time of dramatic change for volunteering and the third sector with several factors impacting on the role of both volunteers and those that co-ordinate volunteers. If you are involved in coordinating volunteer activity and you want to see better regional coordination taking place then this is the event for you.
Our key note speakers will frame the debate with key issues from a local, regional and national perspective:
Pam Wisher is Chief Executive of Gedling CVS
Mel Chevannes is Chair of England Volunteering Development Council (EVDC) in the West Midlands
Sarah Benioff is Head of the Participation Team at Office of the Third Sector
There will be a presentation on the modernisation agenda from Patrick Scott, Volunteering England. Delegates will have the opportunity to participate in 3 workshops which will identify regional volunteering priorities and work towards better understanding between third sector members and statutory bodies of the specific roles, benefits and issues relating to volunteering. The day will allow delegates the chance to set the focus for the newly revitalised volunteering network in the East Midlands, the EVDC.
Workshops:
Sports and Volunteering
Volunteering in Health and Social Care
Employer Supported Volunteering
Volunteering as a Route to Skills and Employment
Coordinating NI6 – participation in regular volunteering
The Relationship between Age and Volunteering
