This Fund provides support for one to three years, for projects that have a clear focus on supporting and driving forward new ideas, excellence and developments in services in the health and social-care field.
There are three strands of funding which are as follows:
Strand 1: Innovation – for new and creative approaches to improve people’s health and wellbeing by developing health and social-care services both at local and national level.
Strand 2: Excellence - for organisations that share learning and deliver effective practices and proven models of health and social-care services.
Strand 3: Service Development – for third sector organisations to develop improved health and social-care services and to promote greater partnership working between third sector organisations and health and social-care organisations.
Applications should also contribute to one or more of the following themes:
Information, advice, advocacy and support.
Personalisation and dignity.
Community and user involvement and peer support.
Promoting, supporting and maintaining positive behaviour in terms of health.
Reducing inequalities in health.
Grants are made using powers given under Section 64 of the Health Services and Public Health Act 1968. Applicants must, therefore, meet the conditions set out in the Act. In general, organisations must be carrying out activities that involve providing a service similar to one provided by the National Health Service or local authority social services. Organisations may also be promoting, publicising or providing advice regarding the provision of either a national health or local authority social service or a similar service. Organisations must work in England and should be a corporation or have a formal constitution if it is not incorporated.
No minimum or maximum grant amount is stipulated.
The deadline for stage one applications is 4 September 2009.
The Innovation Excellence and Service Development information pack 2010-11 will be available at
www.dh.gov.uk/thirdsectorinvestment
If you intend to apply please ensure you have read the information pack before starting on your application form.
This year the Dept of Health (DH) will introduce a new online IT Grants system. They expect the new Grants system to be available online by Monday 17th August.
A Word template of the application form will be made available on the DH website (via the link above) before the online Grants System is launched. In this way, applicants will have several weeks to create their application form, and can then cut and paste the information into the online Grants system when it is made available.
