Cintra Ltd is an interpreting agency (not-for-profit Ltd company) contracted to provide interpreters to all the police forces in the East Midlands. Their aim is to widen access to public services. They are currently running a recruitment campaign to train and recruit local interpreters to work in police stations in the East Midlands. They would be very grateful if you could display this advert or pass on the information to any relevant people. The two documents attached have the same content but one document is an A4 poster. Hard colour copies of the poster can be posted to you if required.
There are different language needs in different localities, but broadly major language needs are in: Bengali, Bulgarian, Czech, Farsi-Dari (Afghanistan), Hungarian, Kurdish (Iran), Latvian, Lithuanian, Malayalam (South India), Mandarin, Miruri (Pakistan), Pashto (Afghanistan), Polish, Romanian, Russian, Slovakian, Swahili, Tamil (South India and Sri Lanka), Thai, Tigrinyan (Ethiopia & Eritrea), Twi (Africa), Urdu and Vietnamese.
Good written and oral skills in English and in the other language are essential, as is 3 years' continuous residency in the UK.
They do not need to recruit interpreters who speak Spanish, French or Italian. If a person speaks a language not mentioned in this email, they still may have a requirement for that language, so please contact:
